New NASCAR experiment
Qualifying for this weeks race will be the SAME DAY as the race. NASCAR will try it again next week....and once more in October (Martinsville, I believe).

so THAT'S what's going on....kept looking, kept seeing same day qualifying on the schedule but wasn't seeing an article about it so kept thinking something was wrong
well, I can't really do qualifying divis and race day divis simultaneously...I set the formulas different from one to the other |
so..no qualifying divis then?
|
well the only way I could do it would be to manually bump the drivers who qualify top 5 along with their stats for the race....so not impossible
I've always kinda overpaid qualifying divis, but that's ok here too I suppose. Thinking thru examples, including extremes- say the guy taking the pole would get a 9.6% divi for that but then he goes on to win the race, too, and earns another 9% for that. He'd get an 18.6% divi Monday morning. A flip side being the guy qualifying 3rd only gets a 2% qualifying divi and blows an engine in the race, ending up with a -5% for the race, softened to -3% because he qualified top 5. Maybe I'm just talking myself into the little extra work to test this out just like they are! |
that opens the subject of there being some hard decisions to make....qualifying vs race.....what pays more........
|
it would.....even harder if I'd gotten the setup where every driver got a qualifying divi, not just top 5, but that hasn't happened
yeah, let's give it a try...won't take me that much extra work and if it were to become more normal, I'd change up the formula to deal with it |
