Malware

Anyone else getting link to the malware Lightspark Player Pro when clicking on link "jockstocks today"? Been happening for several days for me.
Hasn't happened browsing other sites.

it's only happening when you click into this forum? not just loading the forums page? is it showing up as a popup or loading a new window?

just asking questions Nick may need to know to resolve whatever this is

I haven't seen any malware warnings and I check the forums just about every day. I use Norton Security Suite, so it may be that your security sees something others don't.

I'm also using Norton provided by Comcast.

Only the forum and pretty sure only jockstocks today. Doesn't happen every time.
A new window opens and in the middle a box telling me I need to load Lightspark Player Pro to continue. I close the window and continue browsing.

I'm thinking it might be something embedded in one of the banners, but I haven't paid attention to what banner was there.
I suppose it could be my computer, but I have security running at all times, I really haven't browsed any suspect sights, and only has happened here.

SiteWolf 25 Feb 2014 04:18 PM

no, there is something happening...it happened to me a couple times and originally I thought I'd accidentally tapped a banner with my cursor...but no, not that...........and I had it happen this morning going into the Divi Depository, so it's not even strictly one forum

I've emailed Nick but haven't heard back

I need to check further when I'm not on the clock, but it MIGHT be there's an ad in the rotation that's allowing something to be installed as an add-on...haven't run into it on my work puter, so need to see if that's true on my laptop at home. It's not really malware, but that's semantics..it can still be a browser hijacker

didn't hear from Nick, but I also haven't had that happen since...did you Jerry?

Just happened to me twice in a row...two minutes ago.

it'll happen in at least pairs, especially if you hit the back button

Nick, above are some base domains...it appears there are a few ad banners getting into our rotation that kick out a new window, which of course tells you something is out of date, etc. None of it appears malicious, most even appears legit, but all of it is annoying....unless it's earning us big bucks, then let's talk about it! :p

:slow clap:

/me takes bow

Sorry for the delay. The last five weeks have been... interesting. We had a trust issue with a co-founder and he ended up resigning, but not until we were able to force his hand by calling him out on a few things. So, here I am.

I don't currently see the issue, so I have a feeling I'm late to the party. Can anybody verify this is still happening?

Thanks,
Nick
