OT - music downloads
 

OK peoples....I received an MP3 player and am looking for sources to DL music...free would be good. I realize that many of the original free sites are now charging. Is limewire the best deal out there? (39.00 flat fee for life.....unlimited DL's)

I am also wondering if there is a way to load CD's in my puter and then DL to the player...do I need extra software?

most music programs like windows media player allow you to load your mp3 players with your music you have already placed on your computer. yahoo music is another one that i have used as well.

I "heard" that if you use at bit torrent client such as "Utorrent" & a torrent site ( i swear i "heard" these were the good ones )

you can ummm uhh illegally download all the music you want, as a matter of fact a "friend" of mine has about 200 gigs of ill gotten booty thanks to these sites. if you do use torrents just check when the window opens b4 you down load the files that they are .mp3 & not flac or ogg or .wav

if you get a program called "freerip" you can quickly & easily change cds to mp3, if you have any other ?'s pm me 'n i will consult with my "friend"

there is also a lil winamp add-on called stream ripper....which allows you to easily rip mp3s from the internet radio stations you're listening to via winamp.....and, for now anyway, legally........tho the mp3s can sometimes be 'chopped' at the end, etc...from some stations more than others

torrents are pretty cool, too...a...friend..of mine says...and not just for mp3s. He claims to have watched The Bucket List via DVD at home 2 weeks before it was released in theatres. :pilot:

John, I do understand the issue. From MY end it has nothing to do with who....far more to do with how on posts like this. In an ideal world, people would post only in forums set up for posts like they're making. If that happened ALL the time, the JS Today forum would have no more posts than several other forums. But it doesn't. And since it doesn't, the other forums are less likely to be as frequently read. Now, had Rich not put OT in the title, I'd be more inclined to move it. But he did...it's not a busy day where the thread muddled anything. If Troy had made the same post, believe it or not I'd say the same.

I see some people have given some great advice thus far... Windows media player allows you to "rip" music from CD's and convert it to mp3 with little to no effort on the end user (you), as far as programs that allow you to download music for "free", I have always been a big fan of Ares, my friends use frostwire and utorrents, but I haven't found them to be any better or worse than Ares, you can pick it up from http://aresgalaxy.sourceforge.net/ just remember bud, you get what you get when you try and uses these programs.

( I....my friend watched a dvd quality version of the Bourne Ultimatum 4 days after it was in the theaters. It had the Paramount stamp on it....but was watchable!)
