New IPOs released

OK, so I'm having trouble getting into the forum back office to update anything....so for the moment, I'll update this thread when I add new IPOs.

I have released 5 new hitters....as always, check admin messages for the list.

anthonyovitt 19 May 2019 02:14 PM

Suprised there is no Brandon Lowe, Vlad Jr, Eloy, Tatis, Paddock, Soroka, Chavis, Hiura, Riley, high profile players you missed.

rich76 19 May 2019 02:48 PM

wow.....you ought to be ashamed Orren.....:sarcasm:

SiteWolf 19 May 2019 02:50 PM

That's why I ask people to help me make a list of logical IPOs

bballjer44 19 May 2019 09:42 PM

Hmmm
Paddock - you meant Paddack - 8 games
Riley and Hiura only up a week.
Soroka 6 games.
Tatis - on DL after 27 games
Eloy Jimenez on DL after 21 games
Vlad - 19 games

Probably should have Lowe and I would suggest Jose Martinez STL.

anthonyovitt 20 May 2019 02:20 AM

Hey guys I was trying to give a constructive suggestion for players that people are interested in. Didn't expect to get a reply back with a bunch of snooty comments.

We get IPO's of NFL players before they have ever taken a snap in the NFL, so I don't see what the big deal is.

Sorry I spelled Paddack wrong. Anyone that watches baseball has been waiting for Vlad and Eloy to be called up for a long time. It's not like these guys don't have any prospect pedigree. They sure have more potential than the guys who were just added. If you look online, alot of scouts give Vlad an 80 grade hit tool. I'm pretty sure Vlad is going to be just fine even though it's been 19 games.

I wasn't meaning to come off snooty, just stating the fact that I can use help in coming up with IPO lists.

I will say this- I do treat football a little different simply because there are so few games. QBs and kickers, especially, may get added far quicker than I'd normally prefer. Baseball has 162 games in the year, so I tend to want more games under a player's belt before IPOing.

One of my concerns in IPOing someone is whether they've played enough to give me an idea of logical projections. For example, had I IPOd Vlad after just a few games I would have been wondering how to project his HR total....he didn't hit his first one until, what, game 12 up here...then hit 2, and now 2 since. So, now he has 4 in 20 games...which would extend out to over 30 for 162 games...too high.

For the record, I believe I waited about 15 games to IPO LeBron, which is about the equivalent of 30 for a MLBer.

Also, when I put together lists before a season, I'm watching fantasy rankings. Vlad was way up there, but didn't start the season in the bigs. However, when I put lists together during a season, I tend to look at who's high in HRs, RBIs, SBs, etc....giving them priority over someone that may not have played enough to be high on those lists.

I was only trying to help Orren. It has always been policy to wait in baseball for a big enough sample to work off. I was doing the research for him.

rich76 20 May 2019 06:03 PM

I didn't think anyone was being snooty....but I did think one was being disrespectful. Remember....you can always ask for your money back.......
:D

Amazing.....so many jokers IPO'd...how, on earth, is Domingo German not IPO'd yet?

:p

SiteWolf 27 May 2019 03:18 PM

I ought to be ashamed

rich76 27 May 2019 03:22 PM

and yet..............

bballjer44 27 May 2019 04:02 PM

And those Yankee fans that hate the Red Sox would like an honorary Billy Buck released.

Brandon Woodruff should be with German on the watch list for when sampling is large enough.

and yet what, Rich?

SiteWolf 27 May 2019 04:55 PM

German hasn't been IPOd for one reason and one reason only.....and that reason isn't because of the team he pitches for.

The reason is similar to why some of those Anthony posted about haven't been IPOd yet- Orren has simply missed them or not gotten around to them. I don't know what jokers you referred to, Rich, but the last 4 pitchers I IPOd...didn't like 3 of 4 of them win their next outing and one pitch a shutout? I even said in my admin message, I believe, that those 4 were selected because they were pitching that or the next day. German either wasn't or I flat missed him.

How many years have I requested help in figuring out who to IPO? I probably wasn't even 50 years old yet and I'm 63.

And yes, I saw Buckner died and will certainly consider an IPO...just not for that reason.

jbrune56 12 Jun 2019 12:52 PM

This is just off the cuff and I don't have a list of specific names, but I have been getting the feeling going through box scores that there are a few closers who are not listed. I know some vulture a save here and there and don't have the sample size or potential impact, but some have multiple saves. Maybe a scan of save totals by league would give some good candidates. To me, relief guys have to be watched as they have larger positive AND negative results. Thanks. Just my two cents worth..

Also, there will be a new pickem winner this month as I will be out of the country without a lot of access on a cruise ship. Don't want to spend huge $$ for online access just to put in picks...

SiteWolf 12 Jun 2019 08:14 PM

I was going to go thru closers this time around but ran out of time. Several teams don't have traditional closers, more so than most years. i.e. so far this year my Twins have now 5 guys who've gotten saves after May got one last night.

so tax season was pretty good this year given you're taking a cruise? ;)

jbrune56 17 Jun 2019 01:03 PM

Every time the tax laws get "simpler" my business goes up! I have had more new clients since the tax law was passed at the end of 2017 than the two years before that.

Going to Iceland for three days (tourism appears to be skyrocketing there) then a cruise round trip Copenhagen going to Oslo, Stockholm, Helsinki, St Petersburg Russia, Estonia, and a train to go to Berlin. For 40th wedding anniversary which was actually last year. Looking forward to it.

SiteWolf 17 Jun 2019 01:21 PM

I shoulda just gone into taxes....in fact did look fairly seriously a few years back...

cool sounding trip....my grandparents all came from Denmark or Norway, and always thought I'd like to go there once in my life

You likely never 'knew' him, but there was a (then) teenager at WSS who basically learned English playing fantasy sports...even a Cubs fan if memory serves....played here for awhile but real life took his time. Last I talked to him, Sten has I think 2-3 bar/restaurants in Talinn, Estonia, where he's always lived. You'd blow his mind if you walked into one and told him hello from Jockstocks!

rich76 17 Jun 2019 10:04 PM

He was a die hard Yankees fan.......Suzie and I recorded Yanks games for him and sent to him....VCR tapes.

:p :p :p

SiteWolf 17 Jun 2019 10:52 PM

seems like there was a Chicago connection somewhere.....oh, the Bulls, yes?

SiteWolf 18 Jun 2019 08:34 AM

Unlisted guys with at least 6 saves
Felipe Vazquez PIT
Hector Neris PHI
Luke Jackson ATL
Hansel Robles LAA
Blake Parker MIN
Pedro Strop CHC
Shawn Kelley TEX
Taylor Rogers MIN
Diego Castillo TB
Jose Alvarado TB

the Twins' Trevor May should be moved to RP...may be others
I hesitate thinking Blake Parker...never seems like he can have a clean outing...but it is what it is, he's got 9 saves (tho losing opps to Rogers at this point)

jbrune56 18 Jun 2019 12:23 PM

We will go to Tallinn - you don't know the names of any of these establishments do you?

SiteWolf 18 Jun 2019 01:28 PM

well crap, by his Facebook page his main one (not sure maybe his only business) closed the end of May because of a lease problem and his new one is opening in the fall.......business name was/is Chicago 1933 and there was some beautiful woodwork in there...

bballjer44 18 Jun 2019 01:57 PM

I recently dropped Parker from my fantasy team. Seemed more bad than good outings.
Strop will be back to setup role when Kimbrel activated late June.

SiteWolf 19 Jun 2019 08:36 AM

and Vazquez we already have....must've been a schwah preventing me from seeing that

I've put 4 together and while I'll release them before heading to work this morning, they won't divi today.

4551 Hector Neris nerhe PHI-MLBR
4552 Taylor Rogers rogta MIN-MLBR
4553 Luke Jackson jaclu ATL-MLBR
4554 Hansel Robles robha LAA-MLBR

yon Beast 20 Jun 2019 08:12 PM

son of a gun.... this is disappointing, but with the talent this guy has we can surely keep him listed :/

Quote:

With Edwin Encarnacion joining the active roster -- and with Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge on their way back from the injured list -- there was simply no room left for Clint Frazier at the big league level.

bballjer44 20 Jun 2019 10:54 PM

Ian Kennedy seems to be closing.

the problem with him is that his talent is all offensive it sounds like.........and nobody wants a 24 yr old DH....so it'll be interesting to see if he's traded
