Thanks you for reminding me about this rich.

I always like the shootout.

This is the one that has nothing to do with the starting positions in the Daytona 500 right?

I forget what the two races that determine the starting order are called. They changed the name a few years ago from the twin duels if I am thinking of the old name correctly. What are they called now?

I so needed something like this to get my mind off some things.

Stupid Washington D.C..

So Jamie McMurray looked like he was going to win after a late caution came out. Then out of nowhere like a few years ago at the Daytona 500 Kevin Harvick weaves through a few cars on the last lap to win the race and there is a big pileup almost right behind Harvick as he is practically crossing the finish line.

Hopefully the Daytona 500 can have as interesting a finish next Sunday.

It usually does Peter...for many reasons.

1. Getting off to a good start for the year
2. This is their "Superbowl"-"Masters"-"Open" etc
3. If they can't win...there is a mentality of "getting even"...they're (not all) going to remind another driver of any transgressions from last season

There was something I read a while back about the teams not being able to do as much road testing as previous seasons...to save $$$$$$$$$.

I never could understand why the Daytona opens the NASCAR season. It seems to me it would serve all the teams better if they had some races before the 500 to work out any bugs..... just my take

So NASCAR wants to put on a good show for the fans at the Daytona 500.

It will be interesting regardless. There are several unknowns because of the lack of testing I am sure. Then the speeds that the cars are going are incredible with very little margin for error. Then there are varying levels of skills of the drivers.

Just as an example Jeff Gordon avoided missing several incidents last night part of it was his ability to drive a car but I would say luck played a small part as well.

But the lack of testing will be a big thing as well. I am sure not all of the teams would even have the money to test at a bunch of different tracks. So I guess that is why NASCAR said very little testing could take place.

There was several times last night I asked myself why did that happen. Many of the cars last night were bouncing all around.

Then there was several changes that will take me a little getting used for me and others as well. One of the bigger ones for me is not seeing Tony Stewart in the #20 orange Home Depot car.

Young Joey Legano is the driver for that car and he was in an incident in the first few laps.

No wonder this Daytona 500 will be very interesting indeed. ;)
