I don't disagree...and even tho he plays for my favorite team and prior to the charge was one of my favorite players, I understand he likely went too far in his disciplining. But we're also talking about a guy who was considered one of the nicest and hardest working guys in the league...and the decimation of his character publicly, to me, has been drastic overkill. Ray Lewis, for example, was widely thought to have been directly involved in 2 murders...when he plead to an obstruction of justice charge, he was heavily fined but not suspended a single game...and is now viewed as if he's some sort of hero, including a statue at his home stadium. Murder is always a 'hot button' issue.
The biggest problem in this case was the unlawful release of those photographs....and tho given to them by an officer, released by TMZ. We don't know if they may have been altered to appear worse than they really were, but those who think ANY physical discipline is overkill will NEVER view it any other way. Would they if they'd never seen those photos? On top of that, now people think he only got the deal he got because he's a celebrity...when many first time offenders may have gotten the same deal, but gotten it withOUT being tried in the court of public opinion and within a couple weeks rather than a few months.
