Default What I like about Canadian politics

  1. Short writ period: No two year long build up to an election. Writ period is a mere 37 days! And our election, which was just called on Sunday, will be finished a month before the US election.
  2. No long drawn out process for parties to pick their leaders. Decision made over a couple of days at a party convention. Doesn't have to happen before an election (Conservative Party picked Harper back in 2005!)
  3. Things DON'T get personal! No getting into what leaders do on their personal time or even who their spouses are! I couldn't even tell you (nor do I care) who Harper, Layton, and Dion's wives are, nor who May's husband is. The only thing I do know is that the only place Cretien uses pepper is on his plate
  4. Politicians have a good sense of humour. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pc38oF3_5Y0 and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ER2eZ6CwPP4
That said, I hate the fact that our Federal Government hasn't mandated set election dates yet. What a waste of $$ it is to be having an election right now. We all know there will be another Minority Government elected. Stupid.
