Story time.
With out downtime on Sunday, we moved one server from the KC datacent up to the Amazon Cloud (in Ohio). Yay for reliability. However, what's happened is it's exposed the fact that MANY of our database queries are incredibly inefficient.
When the servers were sitting within feet of each other, and we were utilizing the datacenter's internal DNS, we didn't notice how inefficient the queries were. They were still only taking nanoseconds to respond. However, when they are moving from KC to Ohio, they are taking more like milliseconds, and they add up very, very quickly.
So, in short, I'm trying to get everything updated. I'll take a look at Market2 after I finish fixing a few of the other scripts (leaderboard generation, dividend calculation, etc), I'll take a peak at Market2. Thanks for bringing it to my attention; I hadn't noticed!
