Actually, they want consistency in how the ball rolls. What they really want is for the ball not to take that first big bounding bounce like it is so far....the greens are intentionally hard. After this rain delay both the players AND the superintendant will be happy. The players because they will hopefully be able to spin or at least stop the ball......the superintendant because the water makes it easier for him to maintain the greens.....less damage will be caused. They have already had to "syringe" these greens as it was getting alomost out of control already. Think "US Open greens"....they are dammed close to those now.
