The Players Championship
One of my personal favorite tournies, and is often considered as the 5th major. What really makes this event is the course, TPC Sawgrass. There are plenty of eagle chances (hole 2 probably being the best eagle chance in fair conditions). But its the last 3 holes that can make or break a player in this tournament. 16 is a par 5 that you have to hit around some trees off the tee, and avoid water and sand as you approach the hole. Avoid any of the hazards and you have a fair shot for eagle, not avoiding them usually produces a less than ideal score. Then there's the famous island hole at 17 (pic below) in which we'll see quite a few balls in the water this week; and the 18th, IMHO, is a more difficult hole as you have water all down the left side of the hole.
The winner of this one gets a 5 year tour exemption which is similar to what the majors offer. This is also the largest purse of any tourney, as the winner gets $1,710,000. STEHE is the defending champ as he put together a bogey-free 66 in the 4th round to win last year's event.
