Default Golf in the Olympics?

It's been added to the 2016 games. Any thoughts?

Rich and I are training for the Senior division as we speak

to be honest, with some that ARE there, I've been surprised golf hasn't....but IMO would be another sport (like basketball) that should permit amateurs only

Maybe its me but Im more excited they added rugby sevens to the 2016 games, probably the closest thing we'll see to football in the games for the time being.

And if badminton is an olympic sport (as it was on when I got home from work earlier today), than why not other games you play when you have a beer in your hand while you wait for the steaks on the grill to get done? Games like croquet and shuffleboard?

FROLF!

but yeah, Americans don't see much rugby...and it's fun to watch. We certainly won't be dominating it in the Olympics anytime soon

Are you implying that we'll dominate it anywhere other than the Olympics? GO USA!

Golf seems too random to me, in that a player can easily finish 1st one week and then miss the cut the next week. In an Olympic setting, I doubt that you could say with any confidence that the gold medalist is truly the best in the world.

Now if it's team vs. team, like the Ryder Cup, then that would be interesting.

many reasons why it would not happen in this un-dated article.

I am on the side of those who think there is already enough international golf.

i never said otherwise...

the article explains why it wouldn't.

as indicated...it is out of date and some of the factors have changed.

It won't be the first time golf was part of the olympics.
