for what it's worth, the typical hard drive starts having larger and larger issues with things like that once you use towards 70% of its capacity...especially if one adds and deletes larger files fairly regularly....a way around that, at least partially, is to set regularly scheduled scans like this on a regular, even weekly basis (i.e. 3am on a Tuesday or some other time when it's highly unlikely you're on it)
I haven't looked lately to see if the cost of solid state drives are dropping....either way, another consideration for you would be get an external drive to house some of your files...the problem there is, if you're like me, I have an external, but use it only as a backup to files I keep on my internal drive. Another option is to look into cloud storage...getting cheaper there, too

Nachos are just tacos that don't have their s_it together. I'm not adding this year to my age because I really didn't use it. Ever notice that extra fries and exercise sound a lot alike? |
