Well, you'd be wrong. Extrapolated to 44 games that's only 24-0-20 which is a far cry from 38 wins.

Sorry, but after 44 games 0 losses is more impressive then the 38 wins.

There is no right or wrong. lol

Not once did I say or imply that I was talking about winning percentage.

my original comment about this:

"I will take the 12-0-10 versus 38-5-1. Double the Hawks to get the same amount of games played and you have 24-0-20, One is undefeated while the other has 5 losses"

Thus, there is no right or wrong, it's an opinion on what is more impressive, something that most people would agree with me.

(scratches head)
How would they appear in the standings?
In order of fewest losses? No
In order of most wins? No
The team that finishes first is the one with the most points.
38-5-1 = 77 pts
24-0-20 = 68 pts

Anyone (including this "most people") should wonder why a second place team is more impressive than a 1st place team. And again, there is a right and a wrong - it is not an opinion. It is the established way that teams have been seeded for eons.

OH geez!!! An undefeated season trumps the other season every time. You keep pretending otherwise.

let's use today's way of doing things.

19-0-3 double to 38-0-6 versus 38-5-1, we will even turn the the one tie into a win so they end up 39-5-0

82 points for the Hawks and 78 points for the Canadians. Guess what, Blackhawks have more points. Even that don't matter to me as either way the Hawks would be more impressive, all opinion.

No matter what era we use or how you look at it, those Canadians lost 5 times in regulation while the Hawks would have not lost once. It's all opinion my friend, you keep thinking otherwise. lol This discussion will become dead soon neough as there is no way the Hawks can keep this up much longer. But, it's good for discussion.

29-30 Canadians.
hmmm.

helmets....
ankle less skates
wood sticks
outdoors

many more...

Shouldn't make light of the older records. They were earned.
Chicago is playing better than the rest right now.
It won't last.
I hope they end up close to the Canadians record...but it won't be any more impressive than Montreal's feat many years ago.

All opinion: Who in the heck is making light of older records? lol If the Hawks never lost a game this season it would be more impressive easily, unless they somehow did not win the cup, then they look like the Patriots. lol
Matter of fact, the Hawks have reached the point were anything short of a cup win is an epic fail.

As for the equipment and outdoors that the Canadians played in. It really plays no part in this discussion. It's like trying to compare golfers from different eras.

Common way to calculate winning % is pts earned over available points which would 34/44 or .773

while the Canadiens got 77/88 or .875
Except Hawks have 41/44 or .931

No doubt the equipment is better today, but the players are bigger, stronger, faster.
I was just saying CanadiEns had the better record, but no doubt that the BlEckhawks are the superior team.

I think we need to wait and see if the Blackhawks can keep it up...

But regardless of how this season concludes, any team with any records and championships will be accompanied by the almighty * - shorten season moniker which ALWAYS comes into discussion down the road if/when a record is set in one of those seasons....should it matter in the case of consecutive point streak? Probably not, but pundits will find a reason that it does.

21-0-3 halfway point of the season!!!

Ray Emery is the first goaltender to ever start a season 10-0. And to think he is the backup. lol
