Default jfcl fantasy leagues

Just a question for the creators of this league. I am not in the jockstocks on this time through, but started one of my own with some people at work. my question is this. why are baseball, basketball, football, hockey, etc. points leagues. why are they not head to head. I am not questioning it as much as looking for a great example/reason to give some members of my league since they are bucking me on it being points based and auto draft. if you dont mind sharing with me why you started things that way, i would appreciate it greatly. thanks in advance for your responses.

more or less...

comparing point totals between different divisions is a little more accurate than win totals.

not all members in all leagues participate at the same level.

if there are 3 dead teams in one league, and say, one in another- the one with the lesser participation has an advantage with cheap wins.

while dead teams are never good, an idle team in a points league distorts the results less than head-to-head.

I agree with eveything above, but head-to-head football is more fun.

And, actually, some H2H leagues sum total points. So, even with a bad team [or two], you could weight both total points AND league finish.

Thanks guys for the advice on this. I felt pretty much the same with the fact that points was going to define the better teams across multiple divisions if you will more accurately than wins and losses would. i did give in to them and let them have a live draft, although i doubt many will show up for it anyway. thanks again
