I like it!

Something I do NOT like? So Congress comes up with this 2 trillion dollar bill to help individuals and businesses. I get it, far from the ideal and put together quickly because it needed to be........however

There are people somehow making more NOT to work than they were making while working. I applauded the idea of raising the maximum unemployment benefits and including self-employed....but that was just supposed to allow more people to get their full salary before bumping up against the max. That's not what's happening; there are people making MORE than they made at the job they lost...meaning also, they won't go back to it until the well runs dry.

On TOP of that, there are many SELF-employed people...who can't even get thru the portal to GET badly needed benefits...at all.

Then there's the Paycheck Protection Program.....Congress, in their rush to get money out there, left HUGE holes in the program so that businesses that didn't come CLOSE to meeting normal Small Business Administration criteria AS a small business...got their applications pushed through and maxed out the 10mil/business available...and drained the initial $349billion dry.............all while REAL small businesses, especially those without strong local lender relationships, got zip...then shut out when the portal closed.

Some businesses felt guilty enough to realize...oh, maybe that money wasn't ours to tap into...and gave it back. The media has acted like companies like the Shake Shack were being magnanomous when returning $10mil...they should never have been allowed to apply for.

One of the latest 'small businesses' to return money they received under the program? The Los Angeles Freaking Lakers!! a $4.4billion franchise that had applied for and accepted $4.6million.....by themselves then blocking 50 or more truly needy small businesses from attaining benefits to keep unemployment roles from being far worse than they already are.

Combine those 2 things and you have employees whose employers stayed loyal to them getting screwed over....while those employees themselves are sometimes getting (while the same check they're used to) less money than they might have...had they been laid off.

Ah, the beauty that is our federal government

Congress knew the bill was too broad but they needed to get it out there fast. There was supposed to be a congressional oversight committee but the positions haven't been filled.
IG who would have been number one person oversighting phase 1 was fired the day after the bill was approved. Mnuchin in total charge of program and no official disclosure of process or who have received the ppp's has happened. The Treasury Dept had the power to deny any ppp request.
Need to rely on the different media sources to find out where the money is going and hope the companies are shamed into returning it.

Any companies who got over $2 mil will be audited and warned of potential criminal liability.

Trillions and trillions of dollars in benefits are given out with nowhere near enough oversight...if any at all.........and the people giving it out don't care because it really has no negative effect on them....

Another? And this started way before COVID but is amplified during.....benefits intended as damage repair for farmers during low markets...are being sucked up by people who have NOTHING to do with a farm other than maybe being related to a farmer. Why? Because they can.

I will say this....Trump does say and do some pretty freaking annoying things.

For example, he refuses to wear a mask, but insists anyone that comes near him wears one. While across the country we all know that not everyone that wants to be tested can be, yet people going to the White House get regularly tested.

Now, I'm not suggesting people in the White House shouldn't...but it's a horrible look that anyone else in the country has to have symptoms or they're not getting tested.

Then he's asked by a media gal of obvious Asian descent why it matters so much to him that he keeps saying we're doing more testing than any other country and he says she should ask China. When she asks why is that his response specifically to her he says something like he knows better than she does and cuts her off going to someone else.

Among other things, his terse, offensive, I know better than you attitude has gotten more than a little old.

I agree with most everything except with that butthurt reporter. It didn't seem to bother anyone when he gave a similar response "ask China" to an obviously non Asian reporter earlier.

As far as testing....what is the advantage to testing those with no symptoms? I never did understand that position. I get it in a Seniors home or other more vulnerable groups but generally........?

Typical virus...you're most contagious before you ever have symptoms...and a lot of people have been asymptomatic but tested positive.

I'm not suggesting everyone should just get tested because it's pointless to give people the idea they're clear only to have them contract the virus later...so in that respect I have less issue with people coming into the White House being tested, but we've had people die of the virus that had been refused testing, too.

It's more his abrasive 'we're the best, we've done everything right, you're wrong if you disagree' attitude that's way past old for me. We have NOT done everything right, he is NOT without fault...some is 20/20 hindsight, some not. There has been far too much hypocrisy in things he has said and claimed for my taste.

There's plenty of evidence out there that he should have reacted more strongly and sooner, but instead he places blame elsewhere and has expected states to do far too much on their own with less information and access to work with than he'd have had putting a united policy out there on how to deal with things.

And today at the press conference he calls on a woman reporter, then abruptly calls on another. The first one interrupts and says you called on me and I haven't asked my question. He says and now I called on her.
Then he turns around and leaves the news conference.
What a stable genius who has never made a bad decision.
Everyone on the coronavirus task force was exposed. Several, including Fauci, CDC and FDA directors self quarantining but elitist Mike Pence continues doing what he F***G pleases.
This administration continues to disrespect everyone they come in contact with by refusing to wear a mask. And people believe these elitists care about the everyday person. Bull****t.
Just my opinion and maybe 70% of the USA.
And this is not a political observation, but calling someone an a***e who acts like an a****e.
