Obama swing set

Not being political at all here, just tossing this article out 'cause the company I worked for built this set....right outside my office...in late 2008, installed early 2009. There hadn't been young kids at the White House for years and Michelle wanted her girls to have swings. She also wanted to find a manufacturer where the swings would be made in America. She found Rainbow Play Systems. They thought they bought a $3,000 set but it was probably worth 10 times that because the wood used was immaculate (all clear redwood the owner had had set aside for years) and everything was hand sanded, etc. If a board wasn't perfect, it was remade. I chuckle that the article says the set is 'dark wood'. I guarantee you it's all redwood heartwood, lightly stained, and weathered. Sadly, 2009 started with the company giving Michelle her made in America swing set and just a few months later the 1st of 4 layoffs began, end result being some 250 of 400 employees were laid off, with much of the work they'd done having been contracted to be done in China.

Nachos are just tacos that don't have their s_it together. I'm not adding this year to my age because I really didn't use it. Ever notice that extra fries and exercise sound a lot alike?

Well at least the swing set was donated by the Obamas so that kids could at least enjoy it in a park in Washington.

For years, the people in the lumber area were instructed to set aside the best lumber for the owner...and there were pallet after pallet of the most pristine redwood imaginable...in fact, if not for the amount of redwood that company purchased there'd still BE real redwood in the market. Yes, there's redwood...but a lot of it isn't even..red anymore because a redwood tree only gets its color after a certain age, and only the heartwood (center)...where the wood is harder as well. You'll NEVER find 12 foot 4x4s without a single knot anymore. That entire set was made with that kind of lumber. So I'm glad that set will continue to get used by deserving kids.
