Holiday situation

OK, so I don't say this for any other reason than to tell you ahead of time I hope there will not be issues, but there's the potential because of the situation.

I will be flying to Honolulu next Thursday the 19th and returning on the 4th. The past few years when I've gone I've tried to preload Pick'ems for the entire time so I don't have to think about them (except to possibly adjust if a player is hurt that's in a pick or something).

This time of year there's a 5 hour difference between eastern time and Hawaiian time, so divi time is 3am Hawaiian. If I can figure it out like I once had, divis may be able to autopost, otherwise they may just be about the same time I've been posting...over my lunch hour, later than I'd prefer.

Hockey and BB stats I do by box score, so when all games are done, I can deal with them. Normally that's in the morning, but games will be done by 8pm or so in Hawaii, so easy to do before going to bed. Same, then, with Pick'em results.

Football is a different issue. I haven't been able to do stats there from boxes for years for a number of reasons. So for them it will depend on when CBS updates....which I can't count on being before I go to bed over there.....meaning to get them in I may need to wake up at like 3am, do stats, then go back to sleep.....ah, the joys!

Not my first time for things like that, but next Thursday I will have been traveling all day before landing at about 9pm local time, so could be pushing midnight by the time I get my bag, get to my brother's house, settle in, and get to bed....so stats for that game could get interesting.

Anyway, basically just letting you know what I'll be running into in case I need to beg for patience if things aren't quite normal here for a couple weeks (not that I actually know what normal is anymore).

You can declare in advance days of no activities. You really should be able to enjoy Hawaii to its fullest.
The only activity I would miss is College Bowls pickem.
I would suggest you ask ProneEisenrott if he thinks there is a chance that he could catch Rich in Football only if all remaining games counted. IMO opinion $2 Mil is impossible to make up on Rich, but I haven't played comps in ages to really know.

Would anyone else like to tell him to go dark for a few days?

I'd have no problem with it at all! No offense to Prone, but he's not going to catch me.

I wasn't talking about going dark at all....I was more just saying there may be times, like Thursday's football game, where the logistics aren't ideal...not like I haven't done this before.

....and now I just realized...there IS no Thursday game next week....3 Saturday games

Tho the logistics of football still would mean waking up in the wee hours anytime there's 1 game or 16. NBA and NHL, no problem

re Pick'em....like I said, what I'd plan to do (and did at least last year if not years before) was put in 2 weeks worth of picks before I ever fly out....the only change that happens with Bowl Pick'em that I wouldn't know in advance (as in right now) would be the two teams playing for the championship.....and somehow that isn't even played until the 13th, long after I'm back to the frozen tundra

I've never asked for days 'off'....any we've had have been forced on us. I mean I appreciate the willingness...maybe YOU guys would like 'time off', I dunno.

For the record, I will not catch Rich unless he quits for about two weeks. So feel free to handle the NFL comp however makes it easiest for you.

I wouldn't be opposed to a 2-week shutdown of the entire JockSocks site or something so that Orren can get away and relax for awhile.

For the record, I was in no way planning to eliminate ANYthing from the norm here...that is, unless it's desirable for players as well.

By end of day tomorrow my intent is to have Pick'ems in thru Jan 5....including Bowl picks.....I've moved my NFL stuff to primarily Google Sheets, so less time taken but still the same time logistics (and still CBS' tendency to sometimes drop certain players for some reason, mostly defenders like Marcus Peters, Michael Bennett, etc)....and NHL/NBA easy enough

If someone wanted to help with Pick'em results, that could be a help...and IF so, all I need is numbers, laid out as the picks are...
i.e.
2-2
2-2
1-2
1-2
2-3

Where 1 is the visiting team, 2 is the home team, and 3 is in case of a tie for the pick (since there'll be no 3 option picks during this time)

I realize I've been doing this for......way too many years with only a couple rare days off each year, so I'll admit actual time off might be refreshing.......but also not a precedent I'd prefer.

OK, so my flight from here is 6:20am tomorrow, so IF I get divis posted, it will be while waiting to board my main flight in Denver.

Bowl Pick'ems should start showing tomorrow, but I'll remind Nick about the leaderboard and make sure all the picks I put in are properly tagged.
