Scottie Scheffler
At age 17 he won the US Junior Amateur.
In his first PGA tournament (as an amateur) he shot 3 rounds in the 60's, had a hole in one at a 220+ yard par 3 (thanks to his sister caddy who talked him into a 5 iron instead os the 4 iron he had originally picked) and finished tied for 22nd. Upon entering college.....he was the national Freshman of the Year. Shot a 59 at the 2020 Northern Trust. Coming into the Masters he had 3 straight top 10's in the previous majors. His first pro win was at the '22 Phoenix Open (with a brand new Scotty Cameron putter) in Feb. He went on to win the Arnold Palmer Invitational 3 weeks later. He won the WGC Matchplay 3 weeks later. The Masters win was his 4th in his last 6 starts. (Tigeresque). It is my opinion that his breakout was defeating Jon Rahm in the Sunday singles at the Ryder Cup. I was there watching in person, and although I was aware of Sheffler before that, I was very impressed how unusually cool and unaffected he was. I made the comment that that achievement was going to launch him. Both with sponsors and his career. Little did I know how far it would launch him. He is GREAT young man which is a reflection of his incredible family and wife (High school sweetheart) and his faith in God. I have no idea how motivated he will be in his future in golf, but IMO he will be able to achieve whatever he sets out to do. I see many more wins for him and it couldn't happen to a nicer guy. 10.7 million bucks won this year ain't too shabby.
