Default Arod Cheap Shot

Anyone else see the cheap shot ARod put on Pedroia in the Sox Yanks game? Bush League IMO.

nope, rarely watch baseball games anymore, just doesn't have the same appeal as it did in the good ol' days. DH helps over the hill players to pad their stats, expanded leagues have diluted the talent, 'roids/hgh/testosterone, etc., MOST superstars won't do autographs except at card shows (HEAVY DUTY cheers for ripken ), almost all of the decent old ballparks are gone, lights at wrigley field , etc.

i may watch playoffs, but the regular season just ain't what it used to be.

oh yes, outta sight ticket prices I still remember being able to go to Memorial Stadium, buy a bleacher ticket for $1.50, and watch a DOUBLE HEADER (do the kids of today even know what that is??? ) on a Sunday afternoon.

No it was not on ESPN.

Oh wait if it really is a cheap shot ESPN will show it over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.

Thank goodness this has not turned into something that we need a Yankees vs. Red Sox section of the forums again.

It's early, partner... sadly, I have every expectation that it is soon to be... we could start a pool as to exact time..

You don't think throwing an elbow at the 2nd baseman is a cheap shot?

The league asked David Stern to rule and he said Posada should be suspended due to him being in the on-deck circle. Later when Varitek was in the on-deck circle it was rules he will not be suspended because the inside pitch did not turn into an incident / altercation. Posada and the bat boy 1 game each. ARod's elbow gets 2 games and a Schilling rib shot.

Although it seemed cheap IMO it was just a good hard slide. Not the first time ARod has slapped balls or caused a stir but if u ask me it is nice to see some fire from the Yankee 3rd baseman. This is what it is a RIVALRY. It will be dramatic to the last pitch of every and all games. BOS v. NYY. Nuff said.

What was the reaction of the Red Sox players after this play happened? Because A-Rod has had run ins with the Red Sox before and the Red Sox have gone after A-Rod especially when A-Rod was hit by a Red Sox pitcher and Varitek did not let A-Rod get close to that pitcher. Then the other time was when A-Rod could have easily broken Bronson Arroyo's arm when he tried to slap the ball out of his glove.

Now I must admit I finally did see the play and only the play in question on ESPN. I would have thought that if there was any kind of reaction from the Red Sox players at the time the play happened that ESPN would have gladly showed that multiple times last night. But all ESPN showed was the play. And yes ESPN did show the play in question multiple times last night.

I think there is one other factor when it comes to A-Rod. As people may notice Jeter does get all of the love when it comes to the Yankees. Even when A-Rod had one of the great months to start a season people will mention this but in the end Jeter is the Yankee captain. I truly think sometimes A-Rod just wants to try to fit in with the Yankees and show his toughness sometimes and this leads to altercations and of course it will be talked about more when it happens against the Red Sox than a team like the Royals and Devil Rays. Now this is not to slight these other teams at all but I just wonder if this same play would get the same type of attention if it was against one of these other teams.

And yes I know perfectly well why Jeter does get all of the love. As George Steinbrenner mentions at least once a season he does want world series rings and he does not try to hide that fact and up to this point Alex has not gotten the Yankees even close to that yet.

Other than the fact that they would have more money to have gone out and bought all the good pitchers, would not having arod have made them a better team?
