Default Chambers Bay

This year's venue for the US Open. From all the chatter this place looks like a keeper. TOUGH undulating greens with fall offs like Pinehurst #2.
They will be scratching their heads for sure.......can't wait.

I doubt there will be many good stock buys.......we shall see.

Media coverage by FOX. Keep the cameras out of the booth and show us more golf dammit!

Joe Buck needs to GO away.....he sucks announcing golf.

Greg Norman...best overall driver of the ball I have ever seen....if he says "at the end of the day" one more time my flat screen is in serious jeopardy.

Brad Faxon.....Steve Flesch......good job....good guys.

Mark Rolfing....always one of my favorite....straight shooter....no ego.

personally I don't even like Joe Buck for baseball or football, so I can only imagine him for golf

..at the end of the day, it won't matter

btw, that's an area I used to hike around some when I lived in Tacoma.....I know I must have been on part of what is now the course, but I was there in early 90s and the course opened 2007.........ppl complaining about the fescue greens, but that used to be primarily rock

Fescue is not really the problem O....it's the mix of it and poa annua and some other grass. One of the pros said it was putting on broccoli.

they are........but DJ missed 3 other putts during the round that would have kept it from being so pressurized at the 18th.

After this win I definitely think he can win at St. Andrews........the next major.

Fox TV coverage, imo, overall was not very good.

On Thursday, their graphic machine must not have been working because you never saw the name or score of any golfer when they put them on. Their camera work improved, moderately, as the weekend went on...maybe some personnel changes...but the camera, directing and producing on Thursday and Friday was really bad. Often never seeing a shot land or where it landed. They would show a tee shot by a player (ie: Phil Mickelson) go into a sand trap or rough ... then 10 minutes later they would show the player (ie: Mickelson) putting for par and commenting on what a great up and down that was ... never showing the viewer any shots other than the tee off and putt from a player at times.

Because Fox is new to the golf coverage game and all the "established" golf analysts are under contract with other networks, Fox had to go out and find whatever "talent" they could scrounge up that isn't under contract and then you get essentially a "C" squad of analysts all led by a over-the-top milquetoast Joe Buck. Listening to him talk about golf was like nails on a chalkboard to me.

I'm a little undecided on how to view DJ and it's not because he likes to party and do drugs but some of his other questionable decisions he makes off the course make me a little hesitant to climb aboard his bandwagon just yet.

I'm in a golf pool and I wish I had known that Rickie Fowler was just going to party all weekend with Tiger and not golf ... he cost me a chance at making some money...

My favorite part of the Fox coverage was when they showed the trains going along the course. That is saying something.

Having said that I have watched very little golf on television the last few years. Part of this is my perception that there has been very little drama at the end of tournaments the last few years. I am very sure there must have been some dramatic finishes. But let us look at the Master's earlier this year I normally would have had some interest when Jordan Spieth was tied for the lowest round in the history of the tournament but I had no desire to see if Jordan would have broken the record or not. Yes part of it is the no drama.

There was some very strange camera angles, and the conditions of some of the greens which in some cases was not ideal, made it very hard to see where the hole location even was.

I do not get this whole fascination with use of drones in general and specifically to show the holes in this tournament I could really care less about this aspect of the coverage. This aspect of the coverage felt very forced to me and the whole let us try something new concept just did not do it for me.

I can not even really comment on the how the broadcasters did because I watched so little coverage I would not feel I would be able to give a fair comments on how they did. I could go on but I think this is good place for me to stop.

One more thing the showing of the flight of the ball during a tee shot was way overdone, and it has been done before, and annoying to me for some reason. Part of it was not knowing until the next shot where the ball even landed in some cases. I must stop this I notice way to many things when I watch television sometimes that just annoy the heck out of me for sure.
