so.....Brady is footing the blame?

like it was all his doing is how it is coming across on the media.

he wasn't fully 'candid'.
wtf is that??

yes....something had to be done
yes....it seems Brady was involved
yes....he is accepting his scapegoat role!
no...the punishment does not fit the crime
yes...i am not satisfied with this 'closure'

that suspension is without pay....and forgot...the Pats are getting a 1 million dollar fine.

IMO...this will be overturned under appeal.

Well the pick being lost next year in the draft is a first round pick that may not matter much but it could also.

There is little doubt in my mind that the NFL thinks Brady was involved because if the NFL did not think Brady was involved why would the NFL suspend him for four games.

Well actually the Colts game is the fifth game for the Patriots next season and that could be the game Brady comes back or not if the suspension is reduced by an arbiter.

There is little doubt in my mind that Brady will appeal the decision by Commissioner Goodell because the suspension could be reduced by an arbitrator and this has happened in the last year.

So who are the first four teams the Patriots will play next season in order. Steelers, Bills, Jaguars, and the Cowboys.

actually, it's 2 picks....1st next year and 4th the year after

This punishment isn't for deflating balls...it's for not being forthright about it, actually obstructing the process, and it not being their first time.

However, I think they gave Brady 4 games so that when he appeals, and he will, they can save face when they agree to 2

...there's no way BB didn't know, tho, and he gets nothing

So what is the actual evidence that Coach BB knew. Part of the reason Brady was suspended was the texts between Brady and the person that actually deflated the balls. I don't know any direct conversations between Coach Bill and the person that actually deflated the balls.

I think we are going to have to assume, I know how tricky that can be, but I am thinking the NFL did not feel it had enough evidence that directly linked Coach Bill to the guy who actually deflated the balls. We do sort of have that with Brady because as I mentioned he did actually have a text conversation with the person that deflated the balls basically Brady telling him it will be all right.

The way that I think Brady will be get his suspension reduced is if he gives his for phone records because of the texts. This is part of the reason as SiteWolf mentioned why Tom Brady was suspended was because Brady was not forthcoming when it comes to the NFL investigation. This would have been the time period between the AFC championship game and the super bowl. This may also explain the reason why Tom Brady was not suspended for the super bowl so that may be the real reason Tom was not forthcoming with the initial NFL investigation in the first place. I think the first thing we heard about this investigation from the NFL was on super bowl Sunday very briefly though.

Please do not be shocked by what I am about to say which is the balls were NOT deflated to the point of breaking league rules.

So the story goes that ESPN must have needed to talk about something about which is their main business well and showing some actual sporting events. And it is very important for a person to realize that the story ESPN put out there a day after the AFC championship game is false. There is one other important aspect to this Commish Goodell probably knew the ESPN story was false but he still had Mr. Wells do his report anyway. The Wells report was supposed to make the Patriots looked bad but part of it actually shows the Patriots were playing within the league rules.

"Wells' report showed that none of the footballs, each measured twice, were that underinflated." And where exactly did the Wells report come from it was none other than the league.

"No gameball was measured below 10.5 and most were in the 11s, which is within an acceptable range of natural deflation."

So if Tom Brady gets the number of games he is suspended for reduced a person will know the real reason why.

A person also knows the reason why Roger Goodell is hearing this case himself and not going to an independent arbiter. Oh what a tangled web we weave, When first we practice to deceive and that is actually what Mr. Goodell is doing. Sir Walter Scott would be so proud or not.

So who should actually be suspended for deflategate. I would say ESPN and Roger Goodell for deceiving the public but as we know that is not going to happen. So which is worse what the Patriots did which if this story is to be believed is nothing and played within league rules or what Roger Goodell did which is to deceive the public for some personal reason?

Story Here

With Kraft's statement yesterday to not appeal the punishment and to simply accept it to move on, I had heard of some conspiracy theories and now I definitely think something is afoul.

I don't necessarily think ESPN had much to do with it at all as you suggest...they are just incompetent reporters inaccurately following the story. NFL doesn't need them to be a patsy because ESPN already is.

Kraft was first publicly outraged at the mere insinuation that the Patriots were cheating, demanding an apology when they would be exonerated to yesterday, content and complacent with the outcome...seems very curious to me.

Deadspin has their take on Ballghazi (as they call it).
