nice move, i only wish it hadn't taken so long to do something like this. hopefully it sets precedence and the repeat thugs (no nick i don't mean specifically the bengals) will continue to be adequately punished.

kudos to you mr. goodell

lol - we'll see what the NFL players union has to say about this. I don't disagree with the suspensions, but I'd be surprised if they stick.

as i read the article on yahoo, there is a players' advisory committee that wants to have harsher and faster discipline.

now, what is gonna happen to that knucklehead in chicago who is in prison????

i'm not so sure they'll fight these particular incidents. first off it's pretty clear that allowing these two thugs to walk scott-free sends a message that benifits no one. unless of course you're intention is to model your league after the nba in which case the mere idea of a punishment is ludicrous (as long as one doesn't question a dress code).

futhermore, don't most nfl players (like baseball players) have conduct detrimental to the team/league clauses in their contracts these days? i know the NFLPA didn't fight too strongly against the owens fiasco in philly because of such a clause (and the realization they would have lost had they fought anyways)

IMO, even if this is overturned at least the commissioner's office sent the right message. that in and of itself is a rarity these days in professional sports. cross reference if you will, steroids in baseball, assaults on police officers in that nhl thing (e.g., belfour), aggrivated assault on other players in the nhl (e.g., that thug bertuzzi and the jackass from this year who's name escapes me) and nfl (haynesworth), and the nba (far too many incident types and players to list) in general).

NFL Players Union has no pull - The National Ping Pong League has a stronger union!

I like the move. It say hey Tagliabue let u run amuck and I will cut your financial balls off. Now what happens when he visits the Bengals and cuts all except Palmer? J/K I back this commish on his firm stance.

Just heard this on "The Best of Mike and Mike" that Adam Jones is enrolling back into West Va to take classes and get his degree. He will also work out with the football team.
