Default Any thoughts regarding the big fight

in two weeks?

I relaize there is a big age difference and that Mayfield hasn't fought in 2 years but I just cannot see McGregor beating him.

On a side note...if you can get to Vegas, there are some nosebleed seats available for $2500+.........lmao.

It's ALWAYS about the $$$$$$

Does anyone think McGregor has a chance? Of course there is always the lucky punch chance but.............

If I am really honest I could care less and yes part of it is the noncompetitive nature of this particular event. People are going to want even if they don't say it that both of them have about the same chance of winning.

I think McGregor could get a knockout punch against Mayweather but why was Mayweather's last boxing match against Pacquiao not such a great thing to watch it was Floyd was basically being a defensive boxer so I don't think that McGregor will get a really good clean shot against Floyd which to me is McGregor only real shot to actually win.

Now that I think these are the main reasons I could care less about this fight. As a sport broadcaster on television has said already the most exciting parts of this fight may well be the weigh in, getting into the ring, and the comments after the fight. And what is left what actually happens in the ring unless McGregor actually knocks out Floyd, and I have my doubts for reason I have given, may not be any more exciting than the Mayweather and Pacquiao fight.

One last thing where is the most likely place I would get updates while the two are in the ring it is none other than Twitter.

You are absolutely right!
It never used to be that way....pre 1980(ish). At least, it didn't seem it to me like it does today. Somewhere along the way, boxing in particular.... got lost.
For that reason alone I'd like to see Mayfield win.
I don't know if McGregor has boxing skills among his mma repertoire but he will be able to defend regardless. it should come down to offense or who carries the fight.
This event doesn't do a thing for boxing or mma.

**keeping his feet underneath him and resisting the urge (habit) to kick, will be Mr. McGregors bane

LOL...I was thinking a DQ for a KO elbow on the break.....which would cost him multi millions.

a dangerous mis-match

Quote:
50-0: The pro record Mayweather would reach with a win, eclipsing the 49-0 mark established by heavyweight champion Rocky Marciano between 1947 and 1955. No other widely recognized world champion has retired with a better record with zero losses and zero draws.

if it counts if he loses, then i think they can count the win if it happens.
its boxing fights is the record.

what i think these boxing matches are missing is enough incentive to win....er, that is, take away second place money....then we'll see an effort!

The fight stands to become the most lucrative in the history of combat sports, with both men expected to earn over $100m for agreeing to the bout.
as it is....they'll put on their show....but they've both already won with that payday :/

I don't think it should count if he loses either

Today I see this..........

Boxing Kingdom estimates the purses could be as high as $400 million for Mayweather and $127 million for McGregor.

btw, I'm also hearing that the UFC wants a HUGE chunk of McGregors purse..............

This weekend I watched a few of McGregor's fights....especially two wars with Nick Diaz (can't stand that guy).....and IMO

1. McGregor can take a punch....a big punch and many of them
2. He's faster than I noticed before
3. Mayweather has 26 KO's in 49 fights.....average?

If he's training to box only, I have to believe he'll be more ready than most think....me included.

Only reason I'm watching live is a b'day present.

Read if McGregor wins oddsmakers will loose big time. If he gets a early ko could be biggest Vegas loss ever.
Big bets on Mayweather helping to slightly offset the 18-1 betting slips on McGregor.
Average bet for Mayweather winning $4000, McGegor $125.

quite a lot of things be different than usual for Mcgregor...aside from the boxing stand point.
the surface is different
there are corners
the ropes....you don't learn over night
