Default Kevin Durant Signs with the Warriors

Thoughts?

Will they gel?
Will they improve?
More than 73 wins?
Best team ever, on paper?
Dethrone the Cavs?

I'm seriously disappointed in Kevin, to be honest.
I don't see where this is the best fit for him at all...unless there's health concern I'm not aware of, he's going to a team where his available shots will go down......

and to sign with the team that just knocked you out of the playoffs...and leave a team that may have been better? I don't like it

but, from a purely basketball standpoint, his best fit if leaving OKC? would probably be the Spurs, where the prior 'big 3' is still there for another year, and he could have been part of a new 'big 3' there..where the skill sets of the other 2 aren't so similar to his as they are in Oakland

I hope they lose every game. Rooting for Golden State will be like rooting for Walmart to be Mom and Pops.

I think this is an interesting move by Durant.

He could well get a title with Golden State but the moves necessary to do so such as getting rid of Barnes who is a really good role player, and a few other players such as Bogut will make Golden State actually having fewer wins than even last season because of these moves. I think it will take time for this team to gel well. Harrison Barnes is a very different player than Durant. Harrison Barnes was a 4th or 5th guy on this Golden State team and Durant at times thinks he a number one player.

Golden State will still be in contention there is no doubt but will they turn into the Seattle Seahawks who will win only one title. The Seattle football team looked like a team only three seasons ago that just pummeled Denver in the super bowl as they would be super bowl contenders each year as they are but not really a championship winning team anymore.

And yes I will think of Durant's title when he wins one with Golden State a little less than if he had stuck it out with Oklahoma City. To me this is Durant taking the easy way out just to get a championship. This is somewhat a generational thing to some extent and Durant is saying to Oklahoma City screw you I want a title no matter what it takes.

One last thing how will casual NBA fans think of all of this will Golden State become a team that fans love to dislike with a passion this upcoming season when compared to the darlings of the NBA the last two seasons.

to a lot of people, Golden State already went from darlings to disliked last season...many said it was jealousy, but to me it was arrogance

Does anyone see anything other than a Cavs-Warriors NBA Finals in 2017, especially if Dwyane Wade joins the Cavs as rumored?? Spurs, Thunder, Clippers, Raptors, anyone to challenge these behemoths?

One or both of those teams won't perform as well as expected and/or will have injuries that effect their performance. Too many seem to already put them both back into the Finals as if the regular season and playoffs to that point won't effect that.

I'm not a betting man, but if I were, I'd lay odds that one or both of them don't even make it there. They are not the Harlem Globetrotters and the other 28 teams the Washington Generals.

And I have to laugh at those reporters suggesting teams like this is good for the league and will increase viewership.

thoughts....hmmmm.....

- hoping KD provides some humility.
- curious why KD thought it a good fit.
- hard salary caps....badly needed
- such a difference already from east (cleveland then the rest) to west
- have the Bulls gone insane?

last year the Cavs were what $54mil over....next highest was 5?

but a hard cap is irrelevant when they raise it considerably AND require teams to spend at least 90% of it....and that cap will go up even more next year

People say 'you have to raise the cap or the owners just get the money'
People also talk supply and demand
Big holes in both arguments...

Yes, in normal business, prices go up if the demand is there...but if the supply is also there, not so much.

But in pro sports it's not even that simple...or direct.
TV networks increase prices on ad time as long as advertisers are willing to pay it
Advertisers are willing to pay it as long as they feel they can recoup it.
So they simply raise prices on their products to make sure they do.
And we're forced to pay those prices whether we're sports fans or not...or whether we understand the connection or not.

So, to me, when leagues allow situations like this to happen, they're killing themselves...because by the time these big new TV contracts run out, their fan base will no longer justify them.
