Default Pick em question

If one of the players listed as having fewest ER doesn't end up pitching, shouldn't that be considered a draw?

yeah, sometimes it's hard to decide what the 'fair' answer is....I used to exclusively score those as a tie, but a few months ago discussion here caused me to sometimes score a little differently..........the problem is, I don't always know WHY someone doesn't play when scheduled...in other words whether 'pickers' should know when they pick what's up

but you're probably right....in most cases if one choice doesn't play, it should probably be scored a tie

So, when is this "old enough to know better" thing supposed to kick in?

I have always advocated to use pure numbers (i.e. zeroes if he didn't play). That is the only thing that is black and white.
With no published scoring rules how does everyone know? Scheduled to play sometimes changes during the day or varies by source so you CAN'T use that.
Since the last discussion I changed to picking the opponent of not scheduled to pitch because you indicated not playing means can't win.
I still disagree with that (since he can't lose either) but accept it.
Whatever you do is fine. But please no exceptions. Please explain again.
Maybe make a sticky topic for a while with how you score a non-player.

IMHO some will do the work and know if someone scheduled in pickem is not playing..... if they pick the player that is playing, they should get the point. Anyone picking the player that is not playing should get the 0.

If it's most strikeouts what you said works. But least runs I was doing the research and seeing a pitcher wasn't scheduled so I picked him.

I thought I was being rewarded for doing the research but was actually being penalized for it!

Or those of us that casually play, assumed that the admin put an actual match up together and we were betting on something that actually played out.

I swear I don't have old timers, it only appears like it sometimes

.....at this late stage it wouldn't be fair if I added picks, so we'll go a day without them
