Default Antonio Brown....is unemployed, then becomes a Patriot

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300...-antonio-brown

Has there been a more bizarre sequence of events than this the last few days? ...on top of last few weeks

I froze my foot not following proper cryogenic rules
I have to wear my helmet
I can't practice because my foot hurts

then find he didn't pay attention in position meetings, more concerned about social media.....this week upset he might be fined for not showing up for work, gets into a profanity laced argument with his GM, is told he'll be suspended, gives an 'emotional apology' to teammates, is told he'll play, puts out a well put together (and therefore paid for and not done by him) video saying he's 'misunderstood' that included a snippet of a phone conversation with his coach, finds out he'll still be fined over 200k...but more importantly that by contract it cancels his guarantees.....and asks for his release

and in a tweet ffrom Ian Rappaport
An explanation for why #Raiders WR Antonio Brown was so upset, from AB to me: “Told me do not come in Thursday. Bad my name. Then come work, give two papers after the press conference. No guaranteed no way."

How does this guy function?

And apparently, had the Raiders waited until next week to release him, he could have been inactive and unpaid all season...and they didn't do it

Well, when have been pampered and praised all of your athletic life, have a bad attitude, plus a net worth of $16 million (https://networthbro.com/antonio-brown-net-worth/) I would say that there is little incentive for him to work if he is unhappy.

This guy will be fine. Very little sympathy from me.

this loser's drama goes waaaaayyyyyyyyy back before now. He did an awful lot of ignorant crap at Pittsburgh too. He always had a chip on his shoulder and was a malcontent wherever he was.

You reap what you sow and karma IS a bi_ch.

He'll be broke in 3 years.

such BS.....this is quite likely what he wanted all along and now he's getting it

He wanted out of Pittsburgh, in part because he felt like he was used as a decoy for JuJu last year.....but he wanted to go to a contender, and that isn't Oakland.....so he forced himself out of there so HE could pick where to go...and you know he's loving the idea of playing for one of the Steelers' main rivals, THE last place the Steelers would want him to end up....

He'll straighten up (because he's getting what he wants), people will praise Belichek for 'handling' him....and, since the league reinstated Gordon, they'll form the unlikeliest of tandems EASILY becoming the most talented (yet riskiest) pair Brady has ever had.

If anyone can "tame" Antonio, it would probably be the Patriots. Bellichick/Brady no-nonsense winning culture might make a small impression on him.

It seems to have worked with Randy Moss, another diva WR with attitude problems, back in the day. I believe he was successful in New England and even won a Super Bowl or two while there.

Boy, the Patriots are good at snatching up unwanted talent. Just sayin'

I'd make a major wager that Bill, Tom and the OC are already working in some new offense.

My bet is there will be little taming needed.....he's thrown his tantrum and gotten what he wanted.......not that he'll quickly learn 'the Patriot way' of doing things....

He simply shouldn't be able to do all the things he did and end up being rewarded for it. The Raiders gave up a 3rd and 5th rd pick for him and get nothing but the aftermath of the mess he caused.

Meanwhile, he gets to go to the one team he knows p's the Steelers off the most, gets as much as $15mil, and gets to test the FA market next spring

Buyer beware. Some wise man once told me that. It applies to sports franchises as well as consumers.

I could not agree more that he is being rewarded for crap behavior. Other than Brown himself, I put much of this on Gruden, whom I never cared much for anyway. I still think he'll implode in NE......he's too dumb to realize what a break he's getting.

I've always had a problem with people that are not grateful for their blessings.

I do find it odd that Brown and the Patriots came to terms 24 hours after he was released. No negotiation goes that quickly not for the money he could earn. Even one pregame show even stated people thought Patriots and Brown were working together to have this happen.

Considering the Pats history, I'd not be even a little surprised.

That's just it....it wasn't but 4 hours after his release...and 58 minutes after they could legally even talk to him...that they announced his signing.

He hired social media experts for ideas on how to force his release and likely wanted to go to the Patriots all along.......he was literally like the child who holds his breath until he gets his way...........and has.

Nothing we know yet is against league rules, but it sure isn't good business. Yet some even talked like he may have a case against the Raiders to get some of his money!

Good to 'see' you Chin!

He did illegally record the phone call with Gruden, but Gruden would need to press charges for it to be a problem. A judge would never send him to jail but the NFL could suspend him if he is charged. Too bad it will never happen.
