Tom Coughlin/Greg Schiano
Eli Manning was hit taking a knee in the closing seconds of their comeback win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Tom Coughlin and Greg Schiano have traded words. Schiano has said that "no NFL rules were broken" and Coughlin has called it a "cheapshot" and "you don't hit a guy taking a knee".

how do the Bucs feel if that snap is fumbled....but because they just stood there, they had no chance to recover?
another lil something as I look at the replay....the Bucs did not line up like they were just going to stand there...so the Giants had reason to expect them to rush

Never give up!!! It was just a very good push from the DL and the offensive line fell back onto Manning. Nothing wrong with that play.

Coughlin's line of 'you don't hit a guy taking a knee' is BS anyway...the Bucs didn't hit Eli and he never GOT to the point of taking a knee I don't believe
My brother and I were talking about this last night....and since he's an Eagle fan I was surprised that he was squarely in agreement with Coughlin.. His question was- if it wasn't classless for the Bucs to do this, would it have been classless for Eli to fake the knee and throw downfield to a streaking Victor Cruz? Somehow he viewed it as hypocritical when I said it would be...........until I reminded him that a pass like that could only impact the final score, not the outcome of the game....and that I would agree what the Bucs did WAS classless...if the lead were 9.

In the voice of Herm Edwards:
"You play to win the game!" If there is time on the clock and you want to "take it easy" on the field, then you deserve what you get because there are plenty of other players that are trying to earn a paycheck and if the game ain't over, they are going to keep trying ... it's your own fault if you expect the other team to stop playing hard just because you do. |
