Default High / Low in Player Profile

Any ideas on revamping the high / low section in the player profiles?

It displays incorrect information. When there is a split, the price change wipes out the "low" unless it was below 99.99. Then from that point on the high is incorrect, showing the high point over 1000.00.

Also, I am aware the "365" part can be confusing, and refer to at least 2 (and in practice, actually 4) different points of time. Last I checked, it was currently a 5th point, (the start of the current season) that is being used. That 5th point seems to actually be the most beneficial, so a clearer term could be using "Season" where the terms "365" are. That way we would have "Season Value" high and lows.

As for the numbers themselves, the best I can come up with (in theory) is to keep what you have now, just don't display it. Set up a similar set of numbers to track "value", and use those for display. It would be set up to *10 (or *100) the current (postsplit) price, that way reflecting the value as opposed to price.

Haven't nailed it down in my head yet, but if anyone can see where I'm going and a way get there, that would be awesome

*** All this does NOT account for share adjustments, but it would make doing so simpler***

Hmm, I managed to miss this point last weekend, sorry. I got 50 minutes of sleep last night, so I'll make sure I re-read this tomorrow.

Thanks

Rest up. One needs at LEAST an hour's sleep each day

Well, is the high/low really all that useful?

Generally speaking, over the course of a season a player's price will go up. Maybe I'm just missing something, but what do ya'll use the high/low price for?

Accurate season prices are. Accurate values as well, maybe more, for TV.

When it comes to amnesty, wouldn't you want to compare them?

At the end of the season, wouldn't it help to see who to dump a little early, or pass up in the playoffs (for yearlies, quarterlies, TV)?

Hard enough splits cloud the picture. I know the share adjustment blew it out, but last amnesty was brutal with jiberish prices in the profiles. Not complaining about that (actually this may be the first time it was mentioned on the boards), just trying to create a way for the information to show what it purports to show.

Sport by sport indexes and total market snapshot by price and value would be great help too.

Those numbers have been done manually in the past, but takes forever to put together by cut and paste.

What if we offered something along the lines of tracking a player's price every week? Or every two weeks? I feel that would be more useful ... at least then you'll see if they're hot recently, or were hot in the past.

2 week helps some, I suppose. Sort of hot-or-not.

Is there a reluctance to tracking a price over the course of an entire season?

It would seem neither gives the entire picture, however both in conjunction give a more accurate read.

I'm trying to follow what your saying. The way the system is currently setup is as follows:

Player plays, stock divi's, price is a adjusted, price is compared to old low/high, price is updated acoordingly.

What we could do is instead of just updating the price is store the stocks price EVERY day, and just select the days between seasons to display. What I mean is only display prices from April to October [baseball] or August to December [football]. Then, we could offer a link off of the player profile to display everyday, day by day.

Am I at all following what you're asking for?

If I am following, the link to daily would if it were for daily prices for the entire season.

Could the value (price x max shares) be displayed somewhere also?

The index thing I mentioned would be for another thread. I'm most likely confusing things mentioning it here.

Hmm, now I see where the manually splitting thing you were talking 'bout fits in. Yeah, that's very possible; however, is a different topic than displaying the high/low.

The two are intertwined.

The "adjustment" altered price, not value. Splits (normally) lead to added value, but the price displays as 1/10th. Price changes alter value all other times.

Being able to see what the price AND value are at different points in time are what I am going for.

Well, you want current price * total shares allowed?

That would work.

It would show if it split up, or was adjusted down.

Sure

There is a little under two weeks until All-Star Break / Amnesty.

Any update on a value / high-low change in the profile before then?

Valid info would be a great help then.
