didn't actually see it, I'd turned to the Twins game by then (tho I never know for sure why these days) but....
Did I read correctly, American rookie driver Hildebrand had the lead going into the last turn, then slipped into the wall to let Wheldon take it?

Coming into the final turn Hildebrand (who was all by himself) took it a little wide and crashed into the wall. He almost won anyway, but Wheldon passed him for the W. It was pretty exciting, but a sad way for a rookie to lose a race. |

Yea Danicka and a few others tried to do a fuel mileage trick but no luck. Kid went around lap traffic and somehow lost it into the wall. Then Junior had the lead on last lap of Coca Cola 600 then ran out of few on last turn. Finished 7th. Rookie still came in 2nd after the crash lol.

I don't know about you, but I'd much rather run out of gas and try to go for the win (and end up getting 7th) than to run into a wall (and finish 2nd). Not to mention, Jr's on a 104 race winless streak. It was nice to see him push it. |
