Washington Nationals=Cincinnati Reds
Having grown up a Reds and Tigers fan (man, did the 90's suck!) I naturally remember the path that former Reds GM Jim Bowden took the team down. Everyone talked for years about the "boy genius," but I never was impressed.
Now, of course, he's with the Washington Nationals. Anyone notice who all he's got out there? In the front office: Jim Bowden Bob Boone Jose Rijo Barry Larkin On the field: Ryan Wagner Tony Batista Felipe Lopez Dmitri Young Austin Kearns All of these are former Reds. And those are just the ones I noticed off the top of my head. I'm sure there are at least a few I missed. The Nationals are 15-26 (though they did just take the series against the Braves). And Bowden's train-wreck of a former team is 16-25. Can ANYONE tell me why this fool still has his job? "If we do what we've always done, we'll get what we've always got." You know? He was pretty good as an analyst on Cold Pizza. I propose he go back to that. |
