I do Sayow....and I still maintain that a majority of police officers are still, IMHO, good men and women. There just seems to be more and more incidents like the ones I've been posting above.

Veteran cop writes:

"Even though it might sound harsh and impolitic, here is the bottom line: if you don’t want to get shot, tased, pepper-sprayed, struck with a baton or thrown to the ground, just do what I tell you,"

A fitting quote to be a byline to the title of this thread I think....

Mapping the Spread of the Military’s Surplus Gear

State and local police departments obtain some of their military-style equipment through a free Defense Department program created in the early 1990s. While the portion of their gear that comes from the program is relatively small (most of it is paid for by the departments or through federal grants), detailed data from the Pentagon illustrates how ubiquitous such equipment has become. Highlighted counties have received guns, grenade launchers, vehicles, night vision or body armor through the program since 2006.

Of course again on the national stage...

SC Police Officer Shoots Unarmed Man

Anyone who has seen the video and heard what the police claimed happen a person really does have to wonder how often police just gun down innocent people and plant evidence to justify their use of deadly force and get away with it.

If this video hadn't happened would that cop still have his job?

I think it's hard to defend being in fear for your life when the dead person has been shot in the back multiple times.

So a person riding a train has $16,000 in cash seized because he is under suspicion because he may have been involved with narcotics so says the Federal Drug Enforcement Agency which ironically is under the Department of Justice. Did a person notice I did not mention the DEA has to prove anything to actually seize the cash in question.

This should have people thinking about several things actually. But I just want to mention several more things.

U.S. Constitution

Amendment IV

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

I would like to give one other quote from the story and just so a person knows Mr. Waite is in charge of the DEA office in Albuquerque.

“We don’t have to prove that the person is guilty,” Waite said.

There is so much to think about when it comes to this particular story.

http://news.yahoo.com/da-too-early-k...071406087.html

Lady is arrested, jailed and later dies from injuries from arrest for failing to use turn signal for lane change.

Like in many instances, the police officer can't simply brush it off and walk away when a person criticizes them no matter how trivial the situation is.

many news sites are saying she had been suffering from depression and then hung herself in her jail cell with a plastic garbage bag. I usually like to wait a couple days for more info to some out before I make final judgement. That being said, I watched a video and it sure seems to me that the trooper was out of line....we shall see.

The video alone is evidence she didn't deserve to be treated the way she was or even arrested. Police routinely overstep their authority to "teach a lesson" to their suspects when they simply should end the encounter on a peaceful note and walk away.
