The Open and Viking Classic
Held this year at Royal St Georges in England. Last time it was held here Ben Curtis (a rookie in his 1st major) came out of nowhere to win it...that was about 8-9 years ago. Loaded with bunkers and some serious wind issues....this track requires a "ground game". I do not expect low scores by ANYONE! The 1st hole is a biatch and can certainly get the players "on their heels".

Thank you for doing both fields.
Thank you for something else as well. I don't know what to call that many thank yous though. I seem to remember a prediction of not so low scores for the U.S. Open. Well that was pretty much true except for the young man from Northern Ireland. Not going to try to spell that name. Isn't the last hole or one of the last holes supposed to be a pain in the butt and not the first hole. Very interesting indeed.

Peter, on those courses they rarely did any earth moving. They layed out the course according to how the land would let them. After they decide where the clubhouse should be....they then lay out the course. Pretty often the 1st, 9th, 10th & 18th holes are near the clubhouse. You are right in that more often than not....the ending holes are difficult.....but "in the old days" "across the pond" it "was what it was".

I don't care who is in contention....American or rest of the world....the guy I want to win (badly) is
One of my favorites. Clark has been through the worst kind of hell and to see him up on the leaderboard makes me feel real good inside.
