some rule changes for 2012
one and most significant IMHO is a player will now NOT be penalized if their ball moves with no impetus from the player.
When a player is on a green on a windy day...if they address the ball(setting over it with sole intentions to hit it with your next move) and the ball moves without the player striking it....up til now the player would be penalized because he had addressed the ball. He will now NOT be penalized. I remember earlier this year Webb Simpson was penalized when the wind moved his ball...he(as with 90% of penalties in golf) called it on himself....ended up in a tie for first and lost the tourn in a playoff. He would have won by one without the playoff had this penalty had not been enforced. The one rule change I am waiting impatiently for is when a shot lands in a divot the player is forced to play it from that divot. It has cost Tiger and many others a tournament. IMHO it should be immediately deemed ground under repair and the player should get a free drop. There will be some other minor changes as well.

Re: divot, is that a proposed 2012 change, or are you saying you would like to see that change? Nick |
