Default AT&T National Field

They are playing in Bethesda Maryland which is not very far from a large white house.

Tiger is back already. Why is Tiger coming back so soon after Sam his daughter was born?

"This tournament is very special to me, and I am grateful the event is receiving tremendous support from the local community, my fellow PGA TOUR players and all the members and staff of Congressional Country Club," Woods, who will play his first event after becoming a father, said. "It is extremely special to be hosting an event here over July 4th week, and I'm looking forward to a great tournament that raises funds and awareness for the millions of kids my Foundation serves."

It is not often that we can talk about the good things that athletes do but in this case I think we clearly can. I give a big to Tiger and his foundation.

The winners takes home $1.08 million this week.

Ben Curtis was the winner last year.

Would they quit moving this tournament around and calling it different things. In its first year in 1968 it was played in Sutton, Ma. This tournament has also been played in Charlotte NC, Bethasda MD, and Potomac MD. This tournament has also been called the Kemper Open, Kemper Insurance Open, and the FBR Capital Open, and Booz Allen Classic in the past.

Former Redskins quarterbacks have even played in this tournament before. On a sponsor's exemption in 1992 Mark Rypien had rounds of 80 and 91.

Last year the tournament ended on a Tuesday. That was the first time a PGA Tour event had ended on Tuesday since 1968.

It seems to me that this tournament has had an interesting past.

TY Peter.....looks like you covered everything of importance.....leaving nothing for me.....

One issue of GREAT importance is Tiger's dream to have another Tiger Woods Learning Center like the one he has in Anaheim. It has been an incredible success beyond even Tiger's expectations. His alliance with Target & Deutsche Bank (both of which are partering with him in other tournaments ) and now AT & T will make that dream a reality in the Washington area.

My goal has always been to create great citizens through education, character development and career exploration. Then we ask them to return the favor to others.

For me.....Tiger is the epitome of what pro athletes should be.

Here I thought this was the tournament that replaced the International on the schedule. If it is, I remember Tiger awhile back donating a nice chunk of change from this tournament which he helped bring to the DC area to helping the soldiers at Walter Reed.

Your welcome Rich.

It is good to see Tiger doing very goods that are outside of him playing golf. I wish more athletes would follow Tiger's example.

Yes -mmm- I was reading something about this tournament replacing the International this morning.

Speaking of the International golf tournament is there a tour event now that has the Modified Stableford scoring system?

It always seemed a little different to actually have to look at score cards for one tournament a year.

This tournament has been the "Kemper" (in one way or another) since 1968. While the International MAY have been played in the DC area...this tourn was never the International as far as I remember.

There are no other tourns presently using the modified scoring system....glad of it too.

Peter...how could you not look at scorecards to buy from? A guy could have an eagle (on proj op 6) 2 birds (3.3) 2 bogies and a double..........show up even on the leaderboard and still be a stout buy.....you may have been missing a ton buddy.

Thank you for the information Rich.

I can honestly say that I can't remember the last time I looked a golf scorecard.

I used to look at golf scores and box scores all the time when I played my monthly. I have made very few buys period in any of my ports lately. Life has just gotten in the way the last few months. But I am still doing very well but things have just gotten in the way of actually playing this wonderful game lately.
