So what do you guys think of Cuban's recent comments?

Cuban basically comes out and says he is prejudice and a bigot and since the NBA took a stand on this already with much rejoicing from the media...

I think he should be fined the exact same amount of money as Sterling and his franchise should suffer the same punishment as the Clippers.

i think the context is skewed....the man was being interviewed and asked about bigotry...or racism. His opinions were asked for!
Mr. Sterling was betrayed with comments not for the public.

i find very little wrong with Cubans comments...but knowing that the Sterling comments came with a modicum of privacy is what's disturbing.

Thats the part that irks me, i suppose.
Private conversations are a thing of the past!
Nowadays its called 'news'!

What did Cuban say that was wrong, tho?
Whether ANY of us choose to admit it...out loud or to ourselves...we ALL have our prejudices. There's just no way around it and we can never fully eliminate it.
Isn't that basically all he said?

Cuban simply had the balls to admit it.
Sterling lives it...that's a huge difference.

I agree with Cuban wholeheartedly and disagree with ANY action coming his way. He spoke the TRUTH........something that is really lacking in society these days.

Is there really any difference between what Mr. Sterling said and what Mr. Cuban when it comes to race honestly, and I don't really care if it was a private conversation or a comment to a question in public.

If Commissioner Silver is consistent as SayOw mentioned Mr. Cuban should get the exact same actions as Mr. Sterling did from Commisioner Silver. But for some reason I do not think that is actually what will happen. We shall see what happens with Mr. Cuban if anything and I will be the first to admit I was wrong if Mr. Cuban gets fined 2.5 million dollars and his team is taken away from him as well. A person should really ask themselves if what I just mentioned does not happen why not?

What we are discussing is about race. This is also an election year as well. Sadly yes race and other issues will be used by politicians to get what they want as well which is to win elections to keep or gain power for their own political party. Does a person know that 50 United States Senators wrote a letter to NFL Commissioner Goodell demanding that the Washington Redskins change their nickname in the last few days. Just as the situation with Mr. Sterling and some would say Mr. Cuban this is also about race as well.

As Mr. Cuban points out in his own way race will always be a part of our society, for some of the reasons I have given, if we really want to admit to it or not.

Story about Washington Redskins need to change part of their team name.

What has happened here, is the NBA / Silver acted too quickly without gathering all the facts and made a quick and seemingly harsh punishment. They have painted themselves into a very, very tight corner, imo.

If the league is going to make it a practice to extremely punish a person for saying ANYTHING, regardless of content and context they need to better define the reasons for it. What they should do is come out with their rules of censorship for all their owners, players and others, so those that are employed by the NBA know that they could be punished for saying anything the NBA doesn't like, whether it be in private or in public.

What the NBA has done, in the Sterling case, is rule in a completely arbitrary manner which solves nothing and will only complicate things in the future. I think if Silver would have waited until he could have gathered all the facts surrounding this and maybe even talk to Sterling to make sure everything is clear, he could have made a better decision and possibly developed a consistent policy that is more easily enforced. imo.

I guess if I had $20bil, I'd consider overpaying for an NBA franchise

...no idea why, if the highest bid other than his was 1.6bil he'd raise his own bid from 1.8bil to 2bil.......but hey, it ain't comin' out of my account

another episode in the continuing saaaga that is the Los Angeles Clippers..

http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/r...billion-053014

Even after his wife was allowed to take bids for the team, with Donald basically deemed incapacitated, and accept a humungous bid that supposedly included an agreement NOT to sue the league.....the Donald did what the Donald is gonna do..and filed a $1bil lawsuit against the NBA.

If they put something in the agreement about not being sued, they must know they could be in trouble.

My guess is the recording will be deemed inadmissible in court and they, the NBA, will have no case.

The NBA should settle with Sterling while they still can get out with something...

When the court decides the first amendment can be used in an arbitrary manner, then the NBA might have a chance...until then, they got nothing other than a racist as one of their owners and they can't do jack squat about it.

Mark Cuban talked about a slippery slope when this episode first broke...and he's right. Yes, these owners do have contracts involving actions deemed detrimental to the league...but then you're going to have to prove something largely subjective. They'll say not subjective because sponsors paying real money pulled their ad dollars....only they pulled those ad dollars for subjective reasons.

Then you've got one Shawn Carter aka Mr Beyonce Knowles aka Jay-Z
He may have stopped selling crack years ago, but then he made a lot of his initial money in music doing rap songs that, in part, talked about it in a positive light.

Now, he's not only an NBA owner but is becoming one of the bigger agents.....and we're to believe there's nothing still going on that would make anything Sterling did seem mild?

Sterling is an elitist....he thinks he is better than all of us...regardless of race. Im sure if he hated blacks he could find another sport to be involved in. Namely NHL. Sure he said some stupid stuff. But I never heard the N word or some derogatory phrase referring to monkeys or slaves. The thing I had the biggest problem with is how he acted like he gives them clothes and money...pretty sure they EARN that stuff with a lifetime of hard work.

It all comes down to he doesn't like Magic....Laker....not a Clipper. SHOCKER!! Im sure he tok crap from his pals in the steam room or country club about her and her pics with Magic etc. At the end of the day he said I dont want you bringing those people to the game...she kept pushing toward that direction. She kept saying "You mean minorities?" The conversation was strained and rehearsed on her part...she knew she was taping it. She painted a picture meant for blackmail. SHe is the evil one here. He is just an ignorant old man.

Ive heard and maybe said worse that Sterling and I am NO racist. I love all for their heart and hate all for their actions. Do I care about Sterling? No. Im not sad for him im sad for America. This is just another instance of Socialism. Well besides selling the team for 2 billion lol.

It's funny and culture to pic on white people in every shape and form from the media etc. But get close to that fine line and you lose your job, reputation, team, and more. I fully agree with Cuban and even Rich in this matter.
