MMA debut
So this guy Kyle Maynard is set to have his MMA debut. He's a congenital quadruple amputee. Has anyone else heard of this guy?The guy used to be a high school wrestler, but I don't know if the MMA world would fit someone of his stature.
So he'd probably fight in the lightweight division, and his height would probably eliminate any punches, but he'd see a ton of leg kicks making it really hard for him to clinch (and do what he does best...wrestle). I mean, if he can pull it off, it truly is a great story, but I just think it'd be really hard for him. What does everyone else think? http://sports.yahoo.com/mma/news?slu...nkie&type=lgns

I think this is a debacle and that Kyle is going to get his azz handed to him. I cannot believe that ANY state would issue him a license. I am a big MMA fan...watch it at least twice per week on versus and spike...and I can assure you that if this fight is televised....NO WAY will I watch it.

I'm a big MMA fan myself, I don't see how he'd really have a chance unless he gets to grapple, then he has a shot. But he gives up probably a foot or two on reach. I just see him getting kicked and seeing knee after knee. I respect his courage, but I wouldn't watch it either.

So...I've heard that he's being considered as a "downed" opponent, and he can't be kicked or see any knees. I did see someone post this on a blog:
"He has the best defense out there against leg sweeps, ankle, foot, leg locks, and knee bars. He also has an excellent defense against arm bars". That all makes very good sense, but in my opinion this is just going to be another wrestling match then, not a MMA fight. The bending of the rules takes away the MMA aspect of the sport.

So don't think I'm sick or anything, but I was the slightest bit curious to see how he did.
