Not to be a downer but we must remember what happened three years ago today.
Our beloved Trucker died.

Semi retired. On Sat. October 8, 2005 at 8:15 CDT Sidney scores his first goal on the power play with 1:28 left in the second period! On Friday June 12, 2009 at 9:46 CDT the Pittsburgh Penguins Sidney Crosby hoists the Stanley Cup for the first time! If at first you don't succeed try try again. In other words keep trying P! Super Special Sensational Sweetheart.

Downer? not a chance it should be looked at that way...or that Doug would want it to be.....
It's a chance to again celebrate the positive things Doug brought to his own life and to ours. Doug was no saint...he had his faults like all of us do. But there were simply aspects of his life and personality we should all aspire to... ...live life to it's fullest and always with a positive attitude, regardless of what hand you're dealt ...don't sweat the small stuff, you'll only make it bigger ....and the ol' golden rule of do unto others as you would have them do unto you Thank you for reminding me/us of this 'anniversary'......like I said, it is not a time to be sad he's gone....it should be a celebration of life

I must admit when I first did this it was somewhat of a downer to me but is not now.
The main reason I used the word downer was I did not just want to spring this on people and I could not think of another way to express my feelings at the moment in time. I just wanted us to think of Doug today. And for most of us that would not be a downer at all.
