I think that it is rather important for people to have the ability to exercise their rights as long as they are not harming other people. I know this discussion we are having lends itself to people having different opinions and that is very much o.k. as long as we remember the reason why this is even possible. And I was reminded just yesterday what the red on the American flag represents and that is the blood and sacrifice of all of soldiers whose number one goal should be protecting these rights that we are talking about. This is part of the reason why there are no easy answers when it comes to what we are discussing. Not everyone is going to agree on whatever the topic is but having the discussion is vital because learning from each other and our own perspectives is one of the most important things we can do as human beings for the reason I just gave.

The real point, to me, is....if you want to take a stand for positive change in race relations, the vast majority are all for it. But choosing to make that stand in a way that generates such negative reactions from such a large percentage of the population....and all while still not actually generating any of the positive change they're stumping for....is doing far more harm to the cause than good.

Think the average American is now MORE inclined to get behind changes now?
Think idiots like Michael Bennett are helping by incorrectly accusing police officers of acting excessively?
Think dorky mindsets like 'let's all link arms' is actually accomplishing anything?

You want positive change. Great. It's your ACTIONS that will help....or hurt...that situation.

I'll be at the Vikings game tomorrow. Guess who won't be linking arms.

-An open letter to the NFL players,

You graduated high school in 2011. Your teenage years were a struggle. You grew up on the wrong side of the tracks. Your mother was the leader of the family and worked tirelessly to keep a roof over your head and food on your plate. Academics were a struggle for you and your grades were mediocre at best. The only thing that made you stand out is you weighed 225 lbs and could run 40 yards in 4.2 seconds while carrying a football. Your best friend was just like you, except he didn’t play football. Instead of going to football practice after school, he went to work at McDonalds for minimum wage. You were recruited by all the big colleges and spent every weekend of your senior year making visits to universities where coaches and boosters tried to convince you their school was best. They laid out the red carpet for you. Your best friend worked double shifts at Mickey D’s. College was not an option for him. On the day you signed with Big State University, your best friend signed paperwork with his Army recruiter. You went to summer workouts. He went to basic training.
You spent the next four years living in the athletic dorm, eating at the training table. You spent your Saturdays on the football field, cheered on by adoring fans. Tutors attended to your every academic need. You attended class when you felt like it. Sure, you worked hard. You lifted weights, ran sprints, studied plays, and soon became one of the top football players in the country. Your best friend was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division. While you were in college, he deployed to Iraq once and Afghanistan twice. He became a Sergeant and led a squad of 19 year old soldiers who grew up just like he did. He shed his blood in Afghanistan and watched young American's give their lives, limbs, and innocence for the USA.
You went to the NFL combine and scored off the charts. You hired an agent and waited for draft day. You were drafted in the first round and your agent immediately went to work, ensuring that you received the most money possible. You signed for $16 million, half of which is guaranteed, although you had never played a single down of professional football. Your best friend re-enlisted in the Army for four more years. As a combat tested sergeant, he will be paid $32,000 per year.
You will drive a Ferrari on the streets of South Beach. He will ride in the back of a Blackhawk helicopter with 10 other combat loaded soldiers. You will sleep at the Ritz. He will dig a hole in the ground and try to sleep. You will “make it rain” in the club. He will pray for rain as the temperature reaches 110 degrees.
On Sunday, you will run into a stadium as tens of thousands of fans cheer and yell your name. For your best friend, there is little difference between Sunday and any other day of the week. There are no adoring fans. There are only people trying to kill him and his soldiers. Every now and then, he and his soldiers leave the front lines and “go to the rear” to rest. He might be lucky enough to catch an NFL game on TV. When the National Anthem plays and you take a knee, he will jump to his feet and salute the television. While you protest the unfairness of life in the United States, he will give thanks to God that he has the honor of defending his great country.
To the players of the NFL: We are the people who buy your tickets, watch you on TV, and wear your jerseys. We anxiously wait for Sundays so we can cheer for you and marvel at your athleticism. Although we love to watch you play, we care little about your opinions until you offend us. You have the absolute right to express yourselves, but we have the absolute right to boycott you. We have tolerated your drug use and DUIs, your domestic violence, and your vulgar displays of wealth. We should be ashamed for putting our admiration of your physical skills before what is morally right. But now you have gone too far. You have insulted our flag, our country, our soldiers, our police officers, and our veterans. You are living the American dream, yet you disparage our great country. I am done with NFL football and encourage all like minded Americans to boycott the NFL as well.
National boycott of the NFL for Sunday November 12th, Veterans Day Weekend. Boycott all football telecast, all fans, all ticket holders, stay away from attending any games, let them play to empty stadiums. Pass this post along to all your friends and family. Honor our military, some of whom come home with the American Flag draped over their coffin.-An open letter to the NFL players,

I do have one question.
What black protest has a majority of white people not had a problem with?

IMHO it's not the protest....it's the methods. Many are hypocrites.

They protest about oppression....as they buy $5+ mil homes and enjoy the good life. Do any of you have a remote clue how many trillions have been spent (thanks LBJ) on welfare, designed to keep folks in poverty and dependent on the govt.(who would vote to bite the hand that feeds you?) How many billions have been on programs to give women and minorities a leg up?

BLM protests cops shooting blacks...the reality is MANY more whites, per capita, are shot by police every single day. They feed off the media's BS narratives and protest when spurred on by their lies and exaggerations.

I am not a fool.....I get that there is still racism in this country....as there is in EVERY single country on this planet. Problem is....it will never change. But with every single generation I have been alive for, it has improved drastically. I am optimistic about the future.

So, IMHO, instead of protesting and crying about BS narratives....go out and speak in schools, not about how you are oppressed (hypocrites) but about how important education is and taking it seriously is. How important choices made are....we instinctively know what's right and what's wrong. Most of these athletes have been blessed by God and given talents that have allowed them to be successful beyond their wildest dreams. Those that are not blessed have to study and work hard and make good decisions to lift themselves up out of generational poverty (thanks LBJ) and THAT is the message that these hypocrites need to espouse.

Get out there and spend some of your millions (and I know that some do) to teach youngsters about their many options.....some only available in the freest (that spelling never looked right to me) country there is.............

so you mean Chanelle Helm's recommendations don't look right to you either?

Yes, as a Black Lives Matter leader, I'm sure it greatly improves your status when you tell white people to give their homes to black and brown people. Michael Bennett claiming he'd been harassed by officers just for being black only to admit 2 weeks later he was harassed because he'd acted guilty of something and ran...didn't impress you?

I wouldn't even have nearly the issue with the 'protest' if it were thought out and agreed upon between the league and union instead of driving the wedge in further every week.

"The colors of the pales (the vertical stripes) are those used in the flag of the United States of America; White signifies purity and innocence, Red, hardiness & valour, and Blue, the color of the Chief (the broad band above the stripes) signifies vigilance, perseverance & justice."
