And big oil has been buying all the patents for alternative fuels and has been squelching any alternative fuel efforts, so we (the working consumer) will get stuck paying more than we should...again and as usual....if/when oil is done.

Sounds about par for the course......so when they're done gouging us on oil, they'll be in place to gouge us on whatever replaces it as well.......yet somehow they still sleep at night.

If you haven't watched Gashole yet, I think it is an interesting film... I'm not sure about how accurate it is, but using actual quotes and footage from past politicians, does raise some interesting questions to help a viewer "buyin" to their theories...

You can watch the show on the link I provided but it is also available on Netflix (streaming) if you would like...

We have some of the -- if not THE -- cheapest, first-world gasoline in the world. We've got nothing to complain about re: costs.

Nevertheless, we can still product a cheaper, less foreign dependent fuel, and I am looking forward to that day!

Without getting into the discussion about whether or not oil prices are artificially inflated globally, my thinking is....

...we have the capabilities to replace a significant part of our use of non-renewable energy with renewable energy......but we've known for decades that people in power IN the oil industry have used that power to hold down the evolution of those renewable sources and, now that they're not able TO hold it down as much, they're instead positioning themselves to benefit and control renewable sources as well

Sounds like they're pretty smart to shift their focus -- is that what you mean?

What's bs about the whole deal is the government is hand-in-hand with big oil...

First subsidize the oil business so they can not only profit off consumers from their product but also get their tax dollars as well.

Then, get huge tax breaks and subsidies to "develop" renewable energy means ... and they can drag their feet as long as they want too and keep getting free money...

They'd almost be fools to develop a profitable renewable energy that could power this planet because they can wean so much more money from the people by doing it at the slowest pace possible....

We essentially figured out and built all the necessary components to land a man on the moon and return him in seven years but no one can figure out how to beat oil after how many decades of being "dependent" on it?
