So which is tougher?

F1
NASCAR

I think it's an apples and oranges issue.

If your talking physically tougher then clearly the stock cars. They're heavier, take more rotation to turn, have more resistance in their controls, and ride on much bumpier (read as not nearly as well maintained) tracks.


However if you're talking precision driving, then how could it not be F-1 where the slightest movement of the wheel can yield tragic results, and steering is much more in play than simply turning left.

In F-1 racing the skill of the driver is much more in play than in nascar where it really is a team sport.

But both are arguably tougher than the NHRA's drag racing.

and IMHO open wheel is significantly more dangerous.

If you're talking all around, I'd have to say NASCAR. Don't follow much F-1, but don't the same 2 or 3 guys (if that many) dominate the series? NASCAR seems to be much more competitive, with a longer schedule... and they don't have all the fancy computerized controls that the F-1 cars have. Heck, they don't even had speedometers in their cars. The thing I don't like about F-1 is even if you just tap into another car, all four wheels fly off and your day is done. That sucks.

and you can use that to fight as to why F-1 is tougher, they travel (at times) as close as Nascar and at speeds greater knowing if they touch, they are done.

I grew up in Montreal, where all you heard is F-1, only started watching NASCAR about 5 years ago and all I can say is that they are 2 completely different types of racing.
