Default OT The price of stamp goes up again in the U.S. today.

Starting today the postal rate goes up to 41 for a letter that is less than a quarter of an inch thick or if it over a quarter of an inch thick the postal rate goes up 80 cents.

This new rule may not affect a lot of people but it could if someone is trying to stuff a bunch of stuff into one envelope.

Hopefully the local post office will have a ruler on hand so that you can measure the thickness of even just a regular envelope.

So don't be trying to cram a bunch of stuff into an envelope. It may cost you 80 cents then.

This could affect businesses that are just trying to get as much as they can out of an envelope.

I wonder if the post office is going to be selling 80 cent stamps now?

Maybe the postal service is trying to get rid of those 2 cent stamps by having people put on 19 two cent stamps and 1 one cent stamp.

Because if there is no 80 cent stamp yet people will be paying an extra two cents per envelope.

And hopefully you had the right price which is 41 cents now if you put something in the mailbox yesterday. Or you may be getting the letter back but the post office will hopefully give a little "leeway" but probably not after today.

Story about the U.S. postal rates going up

Story about "bulky" regular sized envelopes.

Still a pretty good deal if you think about it. In most places someone comes to your house and takes a letter anywhere in the United States for 41 cents.

Yes it is a very good price. I doubt a person could drive from L.A. to New York on just 41 cents. I doubt they could even do that for 80 cents.

Ah, but they could send that same letter via fax or email for FREE.

After all, if the grocery store starts selling apples for a nickel apiece, you probably still wouldn't buy any if you had your own apple tree.
