Default Phil Mickelson

is, without a doubt, as classy an individual you will ever see.Nevermind all his charitable work....and nobody gives more of their own money....but to cut Bob Costas short on national TV to wish his Mom/Wife/M-I-L a happy Mothers Day before answering his question (which was prefaced by "Phil we are short on time etc") is simply CLASS IMHO. The guy just started with a new coach 3 weeks ago, whom Costas implied should get some serious credit...and Phils answer was to thank all those that got him as far as he's gotten....Rick Smith, Dave Pelz and then his new coach Butch Harmon.

He looks his fans in the eyes and thanks and acknowledges them. He has the rap on tour of being too "Hollywood" for many of the rest of the pros who can be pretty indifferent to the galleries. What those guys need to realize and acknowledge is that MANY MORE of them need to be EXACTLY like Phil in that respect.

As far as Sean O'Hair is concerned, for a young man of his age, after going through most of his golf career with a psycho Dad that nobody should have to experience, to be as classy as he was when interviewed was just as impressive as it gets. I like this kid....and expect we will see some wonderful accomplishments from him.

to both........

He DROVE him like a drill sgt. Pissed off coaches, officials, other parents, other competitors etc etc. He claims he invested 2 mil into his son to further his golf career....made him go pro at 17 yrs old (that's in the face of every major college in the free world wanting to give him a 4 yr free ride)
He played mini-tours all over the country and after 4 attempts at Q-school...he finally got his card. He got ROY in 2005 I believe....struggled in 2006.....and now this year he has "come of age". To overcome all of that and perform the way he did is nothing short of admirable. He hasn't talked to his father since his wedding in 2002......no wonder. His father is now saying that he will not sue his son over the contract he made him sign.....the jist of the contract is that after he makes the Tour...he's to pay his father 10% of any and all earnings. His father claims now that the 25 copies of the contract that he has in addressed envelopes will go out to the big media outlets to prove his son is a welcher. It sickens me even while I write this.

yup, if MORE athletes would act like cl and lotsa nascar drivers, then there would be even more goodwill between the athletes and the fans.

sean looks like a decent young man. i had forgotten about the contract thing. if he were underage and not represented by an attorny working for him (and not pappa jackal), then i don't see how the contract can be enforced.
