I have seen quite a few of both of their fights. Mayweather embarrassed quite a few (the jersey boy Gotti fight REALLY sticks in my mind) However, anytime De La Hoya had a tough fight, he made it interesting, but failed to overcome (Trinidad and Mosley come to mind)

I know Mayweather has the trashy mouth, but he is truly too fast for De La Hoya. I can't even believe reading this thread that all of you picked De La Hoya (maybe due to Mayweather's arrogance)

In addition, I don't think Mayweather had one of his great fights...

Now that would be something worth seeing in person....

You might be surprised at how many of us are familiar with Mayweather and his previous fights. The problem here is that he is an arrogant, disrespectful punk and few people like those kinds of guys. It's a shame because his talent is undisputed. There's guys like him in football, basketball and other sports and few like them either.

I agree with you Rich and the many about his attitude. I am not contesting that impudent behavior at all.

I am simply saying that despite his arrogance, he is still the fastest, meanest person you don't want to fight in the ring.

De La Hoya needs Mayweather's heart/speed to be a champion. Mayweather needs De La Hoya's charisma/likeability to be a "peoples" champion.

As far as inbred ability, you gotta take Mayweather over almost anybody.

I still think there should be a rematch.

Only 1 round seperates a win from a draw should be a rematch in my book.

I only agree with the arrogant POV. As far as an awesome boxer he is no Sugar Ray. He is a 1 punch chump. Yeah he is fast but cant really hurt anyone. He is a pound for pound type guy cuz noone in his class can contend.

Without a good jab and putting punches together he cannot and will not be anymore than a good fighter with noone to test his possible greatness. Forget his prime....De La Hoya 5 years ago would wipe his arse with this bum.
