Default plotr ?

Trevor Plouffe
(Min - 2B,3B,SS,RF)
Quote:
He's the 29th player in Twins history to homer in four consecutive games. Jim Thome was the last to do it, from Sept. 4-11, 2010. Plouffe has seven homers in his last seven games, 10 in his last 14, and 13 in his last 22. He is hitting .396 this month, and he has driven in 16 runs in 12 games. All this from a player who hadn't hit more than eight in a season before this year.

hmmm...am I the only one?...or does that look like a 'red flag'?

not as red as you may think.........being a Twins fan, I've followed this (not that I know what he does with his off time!)

The Twins have been waiting for a couple years for Trevor to 'turn the corner'.....like they thought Danny Valencia had done. They thought Valencia and Plouffe would be their 3B and SS for years. Both were hitting fine in the minors, but their fielding needed improvement.

Finally both improved enough to make their way out of AAA. Valencia finished high in rookie of the year voting 2 years ago, Plouffe struggled to lock down a position. So they tried him in the outfield as well...and coming into the year it was looking like he might be the super-utility guy Cuddyer had been.

He wasn't getting regular time at any position, and wasn't hitting well early in the season. But a few weeks ago they decided to give him a regular shot at 3B, a position he'd hardly played. Trevor has thrived there...and a tweak in his batting stance in the same time frame gave him more confidence at the plate.

Short story long....a kid that was almost out of options and facing being placed on waivers a few weeks ago has springboarded from the confidence of a new stance and regular plate appearances.

So yes...hadn't hit more than 8 in one year...partly because he'd not gotten the ABs in the same league before. I've hesitated putting him out here because I've just not expected this to continue...so far it has!

And, now that Valencia is hitting better again in AAA, there's a good chance he'll be part of a trade in the next couple months...if Trevor continues to cement himself at 3B.
