Drew is a class act to me. Drew sort of reminds me of many hockey players.

And the Saints will try to win on Sunday because they are tied with the 49ers for second most amount of wins in the NFC. Raise your hand if a person saw that coming the 49ers being one of the best teams at least record wise in the NFC. The 49ers rely on their defense and not their quarterback Alex Smith who is not exactly Joe Montana. Sort of reminds me of the 2000 Ravens but that was one of the greatest defenses in NFL history. And the 49ers are playing the pitiful Saint Louis Rams who by the way have had a terrible time scoring points all season. So this gives the Saints even more incentive to try to win on Sunday. The Saints are playing the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

Spoke to soon the Saints and Drew Brees may well have made have been so classless last night. With about five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter Drew Brees still did not have the record. The Saints were ahead 38-16 at the time and passed the ball way more times than they ran the ball in their last drive of the game for the Saints so that Brees would get the record. And the pass that broke the record the Saints scored another touchdown and scored another seven points on the already defeated Atlanta Falcons. That has to be why Drew Brees and the Saints may have been so classless last night. I love this type of thinking by this particular sports writer. Can we not just enjoy an athletic achievement which this very much is. I am sure this sports writer would have felt so much better if Drew Brees would have broken the record in the first half when the Saint were only up by eleven points. But then the Sports writer would have complained that the main focus of the Saints was passing the ball so that Brees would break the record. Well the real classless person at least to me is the very person writing this story. And yes how this story is written does say a lot about how many in the media look at the world today.

Story Here

Reason: Wanted to make clear that the writer of the story was just suggesting that the Saints may have been classless last night..

The Saints had mostly run on the previous possession when Drew needed 30 yards for the record.....the home crowd booed loudly...

Payton opted to just get the record out of the way....and I don't know why anyone would think it a bad thing. The game was easily won after all.....if the Falcons lost 38-16 would they feel better?

If left short, there would have been a less meaningful celebration of the record in the 1st quarter of a game not yet decided next week. People can think it lacked class all they want...but it made sense to just get the record out of the way when they did.

There is nothing classless in continuing to execute your game plan throughout a game. Im so tired of people just expecting other teams to shut it down when they have the game wrapped up. This is professional sports, not youth sports. The big boys cam handle it.

Coach Payton was smart to get the record out of the way. As I mentioned earlier the Saints are going to try to win to not only get a first round bye but play at home in the playoffs until the Packers if the Packers and the Saints get that far. And celebrating the record would have been a distraction for the Saints players no matter what they would have said publicly. And I am sure Coach Payton wants his players focused on the task at hand their next game for the reasons I mentioned.

Offenses are paid to score. Keep doing your job.
Defenses are paid to stop a score. Do your job better then the offense, if you can't, suck it up or get another job.
