Crowne Plaza Invitational at Coloniel
Taking place this week at the par 70 Coloniel Country Club in Fort Worth. This tournament has been the longest running at one course, as the Coloniel has hosted this event since 1946. The Coloniel is a traditional course, and that long hitters dont have much of an advantage here as it plays more like Harbour Town (Hilton Head) in that you have to make shots around the course to win here. While last week's event was about Bryan Nelson, well not in an any official position this event has long been associated with Ben Hogan who is a Fort Worth native. The winners gets $1,116,000 and STRST is your defending champ. And Stricker gets to take advantage of a unique tradition here in that the defending champ gets to pick 2 golfers of his choice who are not otherwise qualified for the tournament (I didnt see who they were though).
