Default Valero Texas Open

Taking place this week at the par 70 Resort Course at La Cantera Golf Club in San Antonio (Alamo overrated unless you are a history buff, Riverwalk one of the best places on earth to drink a martini ). The tournament goes back to 1922, and always gets a decent field as all the Texas golfers love playing in it. The 4-day scoring record was set here in 2003 by Tommy Armour III (a 254, but that was also when it was a par 72), so if the weather holds up we should see some good divis . LEONJ is the defending champ (on top of him winning it back in '00 and '01), and the winner takes home $810,000.

Thanks Mark......

a couple of interesting tidbits:

Tiger Woods earned $5,775,000 in six tournaments this year. That’s more than Jack Nicklaus made ($5,734,031) in his 594 starts on the PGA Tour.

Including his FedEx Cup bonus, Vijay Singh made $15,165,163 over the final two months of the season.

Is the Fedex Cup bonus something like ten million and it is deferred until the player retires which just means the golfer can't touch the money until they retire from the tour or something like that?

Thank you -mmm- for inspiring rich.

Thank you rich.

Thank you rich for the good information as well.

Has it only been recently when a golfer could win a million dollars for just winning one tournament?

Dare I say before Tiger there were only a few tournaments each year that had a million dollar purse.

Can I do the golf field one time only next week -mmm-?

Boy I sure do have a lot of questions this week.

No but I do like golf tournaments in southern part of Nevada near a place that has a lot of casinos.

It sounds like they are going to be raising money for some worthy causes as well. Which is always a good thing of course and also raise awareness of things we should remember from time to to time.

Such as this is breast cancer awareness month.
