Default The Barclays

Its playoff season

For those wondering how it works, this week the top 144 golfers in the fedex points standing will be playing. After this week the top 100 in the points (not for just this week!) will move on to the TPC Boston. The top 70 then move on to the BMW (the old Western Open). Than the top 30 will play at the challenging East Lake in Atlanta. Vijay Singh is your reigning champ here, having it wrapped up before they got to East Lake while taking full advantage of Tiger not playing while he was rehabbing his knee. They changed the rules this year though so that its pretty much impossible to win it before they get to Atlanta.

The Barclays traditionally was played in Westchester Country Club. However the past couple years its been played in Jersey as they've moved the tourney around after Westchester (a sweet course IMHO) decided they no longer wanted to hosted the event. This year its at the par 71 Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City. SINGH is the reigning champ (he's won this tourney 4 times) and the winner's share is $1,350,000.

Thanks Mark

You're 100% correct about Westchester CC........a sweet course for sure. I've been lucky enough to play it back in the late 80's. I also marshalled for the Buick when it was held there and was there for 2 of VJ's wins.

The way I understand the FEDEX Cup.....whomever is in the top 5 after 3 events is still in a position to win the whole deal. 6th place and below will be out of luck.

and now......Victoria Secret week......
