Default Hyperlink help

I make all my buys from a spreadsheet. I use OpenOffice. When I click on the buy button, the site page used to open in Explorer. Just recently, it started to open in Firefox. I did a system restore to change it back to Explorer but a few days later it switched back to Firefox. How can I get it to stay with Explorer?

Any help would be much appreciated.

It may be a setting within Open Office that determines which application to use for opening html files.

If it isn't, and this assumes you prefer IE as your browser in general...

First open Firefox.
Go to Tools, then Options, "Main" tab. Make sure the bottom box is unchecked.
That may be what caused your system to revert to Firefox.

Then...

In XP at least, go to Control Panel, "Internet Options".
"Programs" tab, then click "Reset Web Settings", and check the "Internet Explorer should check whether it is the default browser" box below it.

Thanks Bill. That did it. I don't quite understand why. The box for Firefox wasn't checked and the box for IE already was. Oh well, it worked anyway.

You're welcome Chuck.

Don't always understand it myself, just normally know where to tinker
