RBC Canadian Open
In the 1930s and 40s this tournament was considered to be on par to the US and British Opens. However, that esteem has fallen especially the past decade or 2. This tournament is considered by many to be the most prestigious never won by Jack Nicklaus (who finished 2nd in this event 7 times). A Canuck hasnt won it since 1954.
It is being held at the par 71 St George's Golf and Country Club in Toronto. It has five pars 3s and three par 5s, and the last 4 holes are considered among the hardest on the course. It hasnt held a Canadian Open since 1968, one of the reasons is the logistics for the crowds and traffic since its in a tight residential neighborhood otherwise it would seem to hold more tournaments like this. Its also a course that seems to favor the ball strikers over the long hitters. Nathan Green is the defending champ and the winner gets $918,000 (or about 960k loonies).
